Mark Teixeira Don't expect Mark Teixeira to move aside to make room for Albert Pujols.

"I'm not going anywhere," Teixeira told Marc Carig of the Star-Ledger . "I've got that no trade for a reason. I'm going to be buried in pinstripes."

Teixeira is signed through 2016.

Carig notes a source "with knowledge of the situation" said the Yankees have "no intentions" of going after Pujols.

Teixeira: 'I'm going to be buried in pinstripes'

If any player could be the difference in 10-15 games, as one poster claims Teixeira does on defence alone, he would be worth $50m/per and be in the Hall of Fame while still active.  The idea that a guy can make that kind of difference is perposterous.  Even Babe Ruth averaged less than 10 wins above a replacemnt player over his career.

Teixeira: 'I'm going to be buried in pinstripes'

The reality here is that, if the Yankees go after Pujols he would be the DH. Teixeira is the best fielding first basemam in baseball. Oh'yeah he can also hit a little too. Teixeira has two no trade clauses, the one actually in his contract and the contract itself. He is the one 1st baseman that Pojols isn't a big enough of a upgrade to make it worth spending 30 mil a season to sign Albert.

With all of Tex streaks he saves 10-15 games at least with fielding.  Pujois cannot come close.  Yankees left side is terrible now and need all of the help it can get at 1st.

Yankees must spend money on starting pitching, not 1st base.  They will be lucky, very lucky to make playoffs with their present starting pitching.  CC + non durable Hughes and ?????.

Pujois will be a Cardinal for life most likely.  If not he will stay in NL.  guaranteed.

If the Yankees were able to move Teixiera, which they can't with the no trade clause, they would take Pujols in a heartbeat over him.

Mike, they probably wouldn't have to move Teixiera to sign Pujols.  Not saying they will, but there are some options:
1.  Posada retires, and either Tex or Albert would move to DH
2.  Pujols moves to LF, a position he hasn't played in years, leaving Tex at first base.

Far fetched, yes.  Just remember, it's the Yankees we're talking about.  I STILL think he'll be back wtih St. Louis in the end.

Did his wife tell hime he was going to be buried in Pinstripes, it was her that decided he was going to New York in the first place. He's so whipped he'll go where she wants to go and when she wants to go, besides the roids are free in NY. A-Roids treat.

Pujols isn't going to the Yankees and unless he has a horrible season, they're not going to trade Tex.

It's actually funny how the Yankee morons on this site think that players really WANT to play for the Yankees.  Like Cliff Lee, they don't.  Get over it, it's over for another 10-15 years.

That's funny coming from a Philly fan, bitter over 2009. Players come to the Yankees to play for a consistant winner and a legitimate shot at a ring. Don't get me wrong the Phillies are stacked this year and have to be the favorite. The Phillies are actually my favorite NL team, but your post is ridiculous. 10 to 15 years sounds like the Phillies, not the Yankees. We expect a chance to win every year. You won in 2008 and 1980, 5 total appearances in 31 years. The Yankees have won 5 in that span. The next appearance for Philly was in 1950. Just like Mark Texiera chose to go with New York, Cliff Lee preferred Philly. As far as Pujols goes, he's not needed in Boston or New York. He can choose to go wherever he wants, but the money may not be there.

Let's get through this year

Let us get through this year. Many, many things can happen during the season that no one predicted.

This is all that the Yankees need, another distraction. Is Jeter going to the outfield, can AJ pitch, has Joba
eaten himself out of pinstripes, is CC still effective without the Cap't Crunch belly?

Time will tell.

Let the games begin!

Teixeria is a moron.  Why are they letting this guy speak.  "Buried in pinstripes," "We're the underdogs this season." If the Yankees were to let him go today most people in10 years would forget the guy was ever even in New York.
