We're checking in with the obligatory Josh Beckett update. Wednesday, the Red Sox hurler passed his concussion test. According to manager Terry Francona, Beckett will begin to do some light activity, like biking and throwing. ( Full Count blog)

Earlier this week, he was hit in the head by an errant ball off the bat of a fungo. He was shagging balls in shallow left field when coaching assistant Ino Guerrero attempted to hit a ball back toward the infield and it struck Beckett on the side of the head.

Tuesday, Beckett reported to feeling much better in the morning, but things got worse as the day went on. He still battled "feeling uneasy" when trying to do any physical activities. That's pretty normal, as it was just a day after suffering a mild concussion.

Beckett was scheduled to start Thursday, but has been scratched. Assuming everything progresses nicely with his recovery, Beckett will get his usual four days rest from when he would have pitched Thursday and be ready to go next Wednesday. This should still have him ready for the start of the regular season. Again, though, this is assuming there are no lingering effects.

Beckett passes concussion test

This is good news.  After last year's mess of a season I am really hoping that Beckett is on top of his game.  And to the Jay's fan - Lester is going to win 21 games and a Cy Young this year.  It will be interesting to see if the Jays can even put together 75 win season.  Put it on the board!

Beckett passes concussion test

I would normally say yankee fan but because you said forth, i can now say u r a jays fan.  Probably the bitterest of fans because u guys actually have a good team but play in a division that makes it challenging for u guys to compete.  Its not good form to wish injuries on anyone, just letting you know.

This is not good for the Blo-Sox.
Anyone who gets hit in the head has an awful season afterward.
I see Lester getting shut down around June 1 with elbow tendinitis.
Dice-K will shoulder the load and finish 10-15 as the Sox finish 4th in the AL East.
