The Dodgers defeated the Giants on the field in Thursday night's season-opener, but apparently that wasn't enough for a pair of Dodgers fans.

LAPD is currently searching for two men who severely beat three men wearing Giants clothes following the game. The assailants were reportedly wearing Dodgers gear and followed the three Giants fans after the game. The attack, which was said to be unprovoked, occurred 8:30 p.m. PT in the parking lot. As the two were kicking and punching the victims, they were also reportedly yelling expletives about the Giants. One man is critically injured.

"The man suffered a serious head injury during the assault after the game,'' said Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Sanford Rosenberg. (LA Times ).

Police are actually asking for the help of what they believe was a large group of witnesses to the beatings. Police Detective Larry Burcher said there was "nothing of great value" found on stadium security cameras and has asked anyone who recorded the incident on a cell phone or video camera to come forward with the evidence.

"We're very confident there were witnesses, it happened immediately following the game when everybody was coming out," Burcher said.

The Dodgers have issued a statement on the situation:

"It is extremely unfortunate that this incident took place on what was otherwise a great day at Dodgers Stadium for tens of thousands of fans. We're committed to having the most fan and family friendly environment in baseball and will continue to make that a top priority."

Let's hope the perpetrators of this sad and cowardly act are brought to justice. There's no place for this junk in being a fan of professional sports -- which are supposed to be fun.

I would still encourage you to go (it is literally build into a cliffside, you start at the upper deck and actually go down into the stadium bowl), but if you do pay for some good seats if you are able.  The cheap seats are where the riff raff goes.  Inside the stadium the security is very responsive, outside, not so much.  I went to maybe 10-15 games out there, and after I didn't wear my teams colors (just that once), no issues at all.

No way buddy...and those saying the thugs are  only on the upper deck and you can enjoy the game if you buy good seats this is way offbase, Maybe a little less chance to get heckled and shit thrown at you but its still a crap shoot where the thugs are sitting.....its not worth the risk at Donger stadium if your an opposing fan. ARE YOU REALLY NOT SUPPOSED TO ROOT FOR YOUR TEAM W/O FEAR OF GETTING YOUR *** KICKED? C'MON.

We got heckled and we had 2nd row lowers. $150 a ticket and we haed to leave early. We didn't say a word to Dodger fans just wearing opposing jerseys. Plus it did a lot of good for these guys whether they sat on the lower or upperbowl right? They got beat up after the game in the parking lot..... Dodger stadium is a disaster thugville.

Angel stadium not getting much better either. Move out of So Cal if you want to enjoy a game.

I would consider wearing SF orange into Dodger stadium a form of provoking.

If they aren't caught they probably die in gang violence.  You stay classy Los Angeles.

- Another Philly fan who's sick of taking crap while this sort of thing happens regularly in LA.

I would like to feel sorry for you, but then again I live in Philadelphia, and back in 1960, you know, before the Vietnam War even started, a drunk threw a snow ball at Santa, and we've been generalized ever since.

So my advice would be, get used to it.........

"Id expect this out of Phillies fans."

You really shouldn't.  I remember when the Phils played the Dodgers in the 2008 NLCS and a few "chulos" stabbed each other in the bleachers.  And I don't remember ANY opening day in Philadelphia where 72 people were arrested, let alone bragging about the number not being in triple digits.

To be fair, people have run on the field and thrown up at Phillies games, but considering the stabbings an assaults in LA, and the players and umpires getting beat down in Chicago, Philadelphia feels like CandyLand.
