The Dodgers defeated the Giants on the field in Thursday night's season-opener, but apparently that wasn't enough for a pair of Dodgers fans.

LAPD is currently searching for two men who severely beat three men wearing Giants clothes following the game. The assailants were reportedly wearing Dodgers gear and followed the three Giants fans after the game. The attack, which was said to be unprovoked, occurred 8:30 p.m. PT in the parking lot. As the two were kicking and punching the victims, they were also reportedly yelling expletives about the Giants. One man is critically injured.

"The man suffered a serious head injury during the assault after the game,'' said Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Sanford Rosenberg. (LA Times ).

Police are actually asking for the help of what they believe was a large group of witnesses to the beatings. Police Detective Larry Burcher said there was "nothing of great value" found on stadium security cameras and has asked anyone who recorded the incident on a cell phone or video camera to come forward with the evidence.

"We're very confident there were witnesses, it happened immediately following the game when everybody was coming out," Burcher said.

The Dodgers have issued a statement on the situation:

"It is extremely unfortunate that this incident took place on what was otherwise a great day at Dodgers Stadium for tens of thousands of fans. We're committed to having the most fan and family friendly environment in baseball and will continue to make that a top priority."

Let's hope the perpetrators of this sad and cowardly act are brought to justice. There's no place for this junk in being a fan of professional sports -- which are supposed to be fun.

I've been to Chavez Ravine (Phillies fan) and it's a super baseball venue.

My brother is a retired LA-area cop, and expatriate Philadelphian.
He advises that you DO NOT want to sit in the upper deck or bleachers at Dodger Stadium, especially with another team's colors on.

Sad ...

And people believe all the media over-hype about much tamer events (i.e. No one ever gets critically injured just for wearing even a Mets uni.) in Philadelphia.

Go, Phillies!!  Go, Flyers!!

I am very sorry this happened, but what you say Dodgers fans do at your stadium is exactly what was going on last night at Dodgers Stadium.  Several Giants fans had front row seats, were dressed in their fan attire, and were standing up, facing the entire crowd, and drawing massive attention to themselves.  I believe they have the right to do that without getting beat up, but they were very disrespectful to the Dodgers fans and players throughout the entire game.
Bottom line, though, is nobody should take the game of baseball and turn it into a violent sport.  There is no excuse.

Geez ... Can't ever recall a Philly fan critically injuring an opposing fan just for wearing their team colors.

Dodgers fans are a bunch of animals.

Its slightly upsetting that an article like this is causing most of you to express opinions that ALL L.A. fans are bad people, I am an L.A. fan, but I am also a very respectful fan, and my favorite times of the year is the playful smack talk I share with my fellow sports fans, but living in Nor Cal, all my friends are Kings and Giants fans, but I like this aspect, its not as fun having all L.A. fans around me all the time like when I lived in L.A. I was actually slightly happy for my friends when their Giants won the Series, and I enjoy watching Kings games because of the young talent, I just don't like people assuming im some dirty scum bag and disrespectful to all fans, just because I am an L.A. fan. You all keep saying that L.A. fans have no class, well for the ones that don't, its probably just hard for them to have class when their teams basically have more championships than the handful of whiners that think they have class just because their team sucks the sweat off of L.A.'s balls, theirs some class for ya. QUIT WHINING, it was three dumb ass guys who happened to be Dodger fans, and now this means all L.A. fans are classless,
