The Dodgers defeated the Giants on the field in Thursday night's season-opener, but apparently that wasn't enough for a pair of Dodgers fans.

LAPD is currently searching for two men who severely beat three men wearing Giants clothes following the game. The assailants were reportedly wearing Dodgers gear and followed the three Giants fans after the game. The attack, which was said to be unprovoked, occurred 8:30 p.m. PT in the parking lot. As the two were kicking and punching the victims, they were also reportedly yelling expletives about the Giants. One man is critically injured.

"The man suffered a serious head injury during the assault after the game,'' said Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Sanford Rosenberg. (LA Times ).

Police are actually asking for the help of what they believe was a large group of witnesses to the beatings. Police Detective Larry Burcher said there was "nothing of great value" found on stadium security cameras and has asked anyone who recorded the incident on a cell phone or video camera to come forward with the evidence.

"We're very confident there were witnesses, it happened immediately following the game when everybody was coming out," Burcher said.

The Dodgers have issued a statement on the situation:

"It is extremely unfortunate that this incident took place on what was otherwise a great day at Dodgers Stadium for tens of thousands of fans. We're committed to having the most fan and family friendly environment in baseball and will continue to make that a top priority."

Let's hope the perpetrators of this sad and cowardly act are brought to justice. There's no place for this junk in being a fan of professional sports -- which are supposed to be fun.

It is a tragedy for the fans that were asaulted but this is not the first incident of violence at a Dodgers game.  If this was Philadelphia it would be front page news on very website in AMerica.

What a shame.  I am a Giants fan with no love for the Dodgers.  The Dodger fans who come to Giants games are largely obnoxious as they stand and draw attention to themselves when their team scores.  It seems as if they are looking for trouble.  I am sure there are respectful Dodger fans out there, I just have not met any yet.
This incident is a criminal act committed by criminals.  These criminal happened to be wearing Dodger colors...the crime was committed against people wearing Giants colors... a dreadful reflection on the organization and it's fans.
Dodger fans can truly step up and transcend my disdain for them and help identify these criminals.
I had hoped to someday travel to LA to see a game at Chavez Ravine.  I hear only good things about Dodger Dogs and know that the stadium is an impressive building.  I will not travel to this place now. I cannot possibly attend an event at a place without security and with idiots who beat others for wearing the other team's colors.

I hope these criminals are caught and the vicitim(s) recover.

I am an L.A. fan, born and raised, but now I live in Sacramento, and when the Kings were actually decent, My father and I would go to what was then called Arco Arena, and watch the Lakers beat the Kings, we were heckled for only a small portion of the game, by an off duty police officer who kept trying to start fights with Laker fans, he asked my dad, "What, is this L.A. or something?", and my 6'6" father turned around from a row lower than the officer, and was looking him straight in the eyes from a row lower, and the guy just froze and didn't say another word to us, but proceeded to pick a fight with a small hispanic guy, who wasn't going to have anything to do with that b.s. either and told the cop he didn't give a crap cuz the cop was off duty, and he said lets go cop, your off the clock, lets do it, and the cop decided to shut his mouth once more. Thats not all though, numerous Kings fans would actually assault Laker fans, and then when security showed up, the Kings fans would all banned together and get the innocent Laker fan who was a victim of assault, thrown out of the game when they did nothing wrong. So I am going to be pretty happy when there is no more Sacramento Kings, fans like that don't deserve a team, ganging up on sports fans just trying to enjoy there favorite team, and having them thrown out of games when they did nothing wrong but cheer when there team scored. The only nice Kings fan I have ever met, was a very old gentlemen, who stopped me and my dad in the isle when we were leaving a Kings game prematurely, because the Lakers were losing, and we wanted to get to our car before mobs of Kings fans were let out, and the old guy said, "Its not over yet", and we didn't listen and ran to our car, only to turn on the radio to find out that the Lakers erased a 7 point defecit with under a minute left. We didn't mind that we missed the great ending though, because we probably could have ended up like those poor S.F. Giants fans, who were beat up for being fans of a team they were probably raised to like, they didn't stop and think when they were choosing their favorite team that I better pick a team that will not get me attacked. I hate this aspect of sports, but it will always be there, we GOOD FANS, with good sportsmanship qualities can help stop it though, by just being vocal, if a disrespectful Dodgers' fan is told by another Dodgers' fan to cool it, and be respectful, it might actually get them to stop, or at least think about that it's just a game, and everyone is entitled to enjoy it however they like, as long as its without violence.

Its pretty shitty when you can't rout for a team because you are not in there home stadium. I live in Tampa and rout for the Atlanta Falcons and not the Bucs. Everytime i go to the Bucs- Falcons games im always heckeled and talked shit to. Never have i been a proached violently. The day i can't go to a game with whatever i want to wear will be the day i stop watching sports. Dont get me wrong im from Upstate N.Y. and have been to my share of Buffalo Bills games and have seen beers poured on womens heads and fighting in the stands. Its a shame to see and people wont get it till they ban booze from the parking lots and stands which in turn will kill every sports team. Im out hope these guys make it

I was at the game last night.  When I got to my car to go home, I had to remove
an empty bottle of Hennessy from under my rear tire.  My friend was verbally accosted
by some drunk who took exception to the T-shirt he was wearing.  No more Dodger games
for me.

This is definitely unfortunate and there is no need for it anywhere in sport.  Those guys are losers, but this is by no means everyone or just an LA thing.  Remember a few years ago when a Giant fan shot and killed a Dodger fan?  A fist fight over a game is stupid enough, but a gun?  Come on.  That means he came to the game looking for trouble too.

The shooting did happen at Dodger Stadium, so if the argument is that Chavez is the problem still, I bring up a personal experience.  I am a Dodger fan living in SF.  I went to a game at AT&T with my girlfriend and some fan walking by hit her in the head because she was wearing a Dodger cap.  Hitting a girl in the face?  That is BS.  However, I am still adult enough not to bash all of SF or all Giant fans because of that one POS.  I would hope everyone could keep this incident in the same perspective.  In fairness, when I went after the guy who hit my girl, several Giants fans who saw came to my defense and security eventually kicked the guy out.

I will be going to the games next week when the Dodgers come to SF and I hope to just have a good safe time - and enjoy a Dodgers sweep!
