The Dodgers defeated the Giants on the field in Thursday night's season-opener, but apparently that wasn't enough for a pair of Dodgers fans.

LAPD is currently searching for two men who severely beat three men wearing Giants clothes following the game. The assailants were reportedly wearing Dodgers gear and followed the three Giants fans after the game. The attack, which was said to be unprovoked, occurred 8:30 p.m. PT in the parking lot. As the two were kicking and punching the victims, they were also reportedly yelling expletives about the Giants. One man is critically injured.

"The man suffered a serious head injury during the assault after the game,'' said Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Sanford Rosenberg. (LA Times ).

Police are actually asking for the help of what they believe was a large group of witnesses to the beatings. Police Detective Larry Burcher said there was "nothing of great value" found on stadium security cameras and has asked anyone who recorded the incident on a cell phone or video camera to come forward with the evidence.

"We're very confident there were witnesses, it happened immediately following the game when everybody was coming out," Burcher said.

The Dodgers have issued a statement on the situation:

"It is extremely unfortunate that this incident took place on what was otherwise a great day at Dodgers Stadium for tens of thousands of fans. We're committed to having the most fan and family friendly environment in baseball and will continue to make that a top priority."

Let's hope the perpetrators of this sad and cowardly act are brought to justice. There's no place for this junk in being a fan of professional sports -- which are supposed to be fun.

Anybody who believes a person who cheers for a sports team deserves to get a beat down after a game... or any time. Please. Just go play on the freeway in the fast lane. I don't even know what to do with dummies like you.

I agree that ushers and security are worthless. Thy don't do anything but watch the game.

Based on your comments you are saying that the giants fans deserved this..."Just go about your own business, don't provoke things, and you won't get beaten. Pretty simple."

You're a fucken idiot, nobody deserves to get beaten like that. Popcorn, beer, etc. thrown on you...yes, you deserve that. Not this...and you "guarantee these Giants fans were running their mouth to the wrong people at some point", come on! That shit goes both ways and you know it. The dodgers fans chant "Giants suck" during the games for Christ sake!

Sorry, but I think you views are way off base here.

Wow you are an idiot.  I dont care if these guys were running their mouths about.  Talk is cheap MF'er.  Get it straight, no one deserves to get their ass kick no matter what they say.  If it comes out that they started the fight then yes I might say the Dodgers fans were defending themselves,  Don't try to defend some guys who beat up 3 fans cause you had an OK experience and only had stuff throw at u.  Give me a break

Yo, Padres19 - you have no idea what transpired so don't go running your mouth that the Giants fans instigated the fight.  Fact is if you can't wear opposing colors in a ballpark the team needs to take action.

I've been to many ballparks - including AT&T, and nowhere else (other than Raiders games) does the home team resort to violence and poor behavior like Chavez Ravine.

Hope they find these punks and throw the book at them

I have been to several games at Chavez Ravine sitting in the bleachers, upper deck etc and I am a Padres fan. I live in Santa Barbara and its the closest stadium I can see my team play. I also wear my Padres gear proudly. Sure people throw things at you, say stupid stuff whatever. You just ignore it, laugh it off, go about friendly banter with people and just cheer for your team. Just don't act like a jerkoff and provoke everyone. I guarantee these Giants fans were running their mouth to the wrong people at some point. I won't say they deserve to get beaten to a near death as no one does, but I guarantee they escalated the incident. I was at the game when the Padres were up 2 runs in extras in 2006 when LA hit back to back to back homeruns to win the game. I know for a fact if I had said some stupid s*** to people as I was leaving I would have got knocked in the mouth. There were serious gangster types all around me. Dudes with tattoos on their heads and all. Just go about your own business, don't provoke things, and you won't get beaten. Pretty simple.

Why the heck didn't any witnesses jump in to help the 3 poor giant fans getting beat?  I would've jumped in .  I think once people see one person jump in and help they might too.  People need more guts.  Believe me.  Punks that did this are alot weaker than you think.  They were probably abit drunk too.  Hence, slower.
Dodger stadium needs some better security obviously.  Are they equiped with firearms or tazers?  Hope those 2 losers get maximum punishment for this crap.  Also hope "Tyrone" meets up with them in prison.
Lets enjoy sports together people.  If something is wrong or someone needs help.  Lets jump in together and help.

Good to read.  I will not take my family.  I will take my biggest, meanest, looking friends from Samoa.  :)

I wonder how far from the stadium this happened?  Had the victim used public transportation?  Parked far away?  I have seen the arena but was careful not to blink as I flew bye on the freeway.  I would wonder about liability for the ownership.

I should point out, in the upper deck or bleachers, you are right.  If you can, go to the lower bowl.  They have tons of security (not ushers, but actual security).

Too bad-that stadium is one of a kind, but clearly more than one person has had a bad experience there.

Sad to read.  Truly enjoyed the two times I got to see that stadium in Colorado... great location and very safe place... beautiful park.  No Raider fan would be beaten to critical condition there and they HATE the Raiders.

I think I finally understand why the seats at Chavez fill up so late and empty so quickly.  Fans show up in the second, full sprint to the front gates, see 6 or 7 innnings, sprint back out to the car and burn rubber to beat traffic.  Sounds dreadul.
