The Dodgers defeated the Giants on the field in Thursday night's season-opener, but apparently that wasn't enough for a pair of Dodgers fans.

LAPD is currently searching for two men who severely beat three men wearing Giants clothes following the game. The assailants were reportedly wearing Dodgers gear and followed the three Giants fans after the game. The attack, which was said to be unprovoked, occurred 8:30 p.m. PT in the parking lot. As the two were kicking and punching the victims, they were also reportedly yelling expletives about the Giants. One man is critically injured.

"The man suffered a serious head injury during the assault after the game,'' said Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Sanford Rosenberg. (LA Times ).

Police are actually asking for the help of what they believe was a large group of witnesses to the beatings. Police Detective Larry Burcher said there was "nothing of great value" found on stadium security cameras and has asked anyone who recorded the incident on a cell phone or video camera to come forward with the evidence.

"We're very confident there were witnesses, it happened immediately following the game when everybody was coming out," Burcher said.

The Dodgers have issued a statement on the situation:

"It is extremely unfortunate that this incident took place on what was otherwise a great day at Dodgers Stadium for tens of thousands of fans. We're committed to having the most fan and family friendly environment in baseball and will continue to make that a top priority."

Let's hope the perpetrators of this sad and cowardly act are brought to justice. There's no place for this junk in being a fan of professional sports -- which are supposed to be fun.

WTF kind of sense is this?  Dodgers fans beat up Giants fans  and your reaction is "Well in Philly they beat up Mets fans."  You're wrong. You're stupid.  You're prejudiced.

All you have to do is go to YOUTUBE and you see thousands of fights between Dodger & Giant fans. You'd think higher security would be in place for a game like this...It's like Sox's & Yankees. Something always happens especially after people have been drinking. Usually the 21-35 year old age group. I travel to different stadiums every year and see the same shit. Go to Philly in opposing gear watch what they do..wear a Mets shirt there...U wont walk out.

There are some really stupid Dodger fans out there. It's annoying to see them constantly acting like thugs and disrespecting such a great tradition.  I hope they find them, lock them up and send up North to San Quentin where they can meet some hardcore Giant Fans.

As a Padre fan that lives 30 mins outside of LA, I can tell you that I personally refuse to attend a game at Dodger stadium because I have never once attended a game where I didn't feel my wellness was in jeopardy.  Not all fans there, but a large portion are the same group of lowlife ethic deficient assholes who bleed silver and bleak from the Raiders LA days.  When the article shows the Dodger statement that says they look to create a fan freindly or family freindly environment, I couldn't help but laugh.  That is probably the biggest false statement I've ever seen a front office release.  You cannot go to Dodger stadium wearing any colors other than blue and white unless you are looking for harrasment, threats and nonsense.  This is not a judgment of Dodger fans, this is a judgment of the classless "sportsfans" that live in LA.

I feel bad for the injured in this incident and I truly hope everything turns out ok for them.  Maybe one day the people that run Dodger stadium will actually take security seriously and look out for the the well being of all fans who attend games there.  Until that day, story's like this should not be suprising coming from a place like that.
