In one of the best sporting moments in memory, a baseball game was transcended by national patriotism Sunday night. Players on the field were competing in a baseball game -- heated rivals, in fact -- but when news of Osama Bin Laden being killed spread throughout Citizen's Bank Park Sunday night via handheld devices and word of mouth, USA chants erupted. It was truly a testament to how, despite our many differences, we are all bound together in this great country.

I linked the video into 3 up, 3 down late Sunday night because I figured it would be pulled like every other MLB video on YouTube. But Monday morning, MLB.com announced it would not use a copyright claim to pull the video, citing historical importance and a lack of impact on the game. (Eric Fisher on Twitter)

Watch the video below, and I highly recommend going to "Proud to be an American" right when you're done. It brings everything full circle.

I would like to call for the resignation of ESPN Baseball Analyst & reporter Buster Olney. He said on Sunday night after the Phillies fans cheered for the death of an "elderly man" (Bin Laden) that it was the most disgusting thing he has ever seen before & it was typical Philadelphia fashion etc. I guess he didn't see the thousands of people outside Ground Zero & the White House doing the SAME THING. HATER!

I like the fact that the news came in the 9th inning with the score tied 1-1...911. Too much.

Helodoctor, another internet tough guy looking for some sort of reassurance that he isn't your typical slack jawed yokel.

Take a gun, stick in your mouth, pull the trigger and make this country a better place.
Statements like this show exactly why you could never hold a civil conversation.  Like half of the morons on this board, you resort to violence and hate to settle an argument.

You also obviously think that Obama is the first completely worthless President.

Keep hiding behind your computer monitor.  One day, people might have to be accountable for their actions and off-kilter remarks.

Typical Obama-bashers.  Take a great moment and use it only to vent your hateful views.  You'll give no credit to Obama now that the mission succeeded, but had this mission gone wrong and American soldiers were killed or Usama wasn't there, you would be bashing Obama mercilessly and blaming him alone.  What complete, hateful hypocrites you are.

Your a douchebag who should have all rights removed to include the right to vote because obviously you have no clue. Obama is no war hero. The hero is the soilder who finished the job, the same soilder who Obama didn't want to pay just a few weeks ago. If anything Obama is a traitor/muslim apologist who plays for the camera and idiots like you. He was busy watching his basketball games when the order was giving, odds are he just nodded yes so not to be bothered with real duties of the president. So Dandman20 here is alittle advice. Take a gun, stick in your mouth, pull the trigger and make this country a better place.

It is a great thing that Bin Laden was gotten. I do agree they need to provide some proof and soon and eventually let the troops talk about the raid.

I understand the skeptics and we should be cautious but optimistic.

The fans were great showing their pride of the country while at the game. Good job by MLB to keep the video up.

As for the idiot below making this a political discussion on a sports board is completely stupid as is his political opinion and statement. If it's true he was found because of the policies of Pres. Bush and the Cuban prison and procedures used there. Obama wanted that place closed and was against that so he really can't take much credit for this. As far as giving the order that was a no brainer. "Uh Mr. President we believe the most wanted man in the world is at this house can we go pick him up?" Of course!

Stick to sports man. Go to a different site to talk you nonsense.

Yeah, and the ONLY reason that Bush was elected a second time was because we were in the middle of a war. A war HE started. He didn't deserve the reelection, people just didn't want to change leaders in the middle of a war. So you can spin this any way you want. Good job on making an otherwise joyous day into a politcial rant.
