In one of the best sporting moments in memory, a baseball game was transcended by national patriotism Sunday night. Players on the field were competing in a baseball game -- heated rivals, in fact -- but when news of Osama Bin Laden being killed spread throughout Citizen's Bank Park Sunday night via handheld devices and word of mouth, USA chants erupted. It was truly a testament to how, despite our many differences, we are all bound together in this great country.

I linked the video into 3 up, 3 down late Sunday night because I figured it would be pulled like every other MLB video on YouTube. But Monday morning, announced it would not use a copyright claim to pull the video, citing historical importance and a lack of impact on the game. (Eric Fisher on Twitter)

Watch the video below, and I highly recommend going to "Proud to be an American" right when you're done. It brings everything full circle.

HAHAHAHA I was embarrassed to read this.  In case you forget Bush was the one who declared vengance on terrorism and Obama wanted to end it and "bring our troops home".  Well that didn't happen.  Obama is not a war hero, no more than you or I.  He said go get him, just as anyone else would have.  If I told the Packers to go win the Super Bowl this year and they did, would I have gotten a Super Bowl ring or any props for THEM succeeding?  Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear, and we haven't seen anything.  Ironic the body got dumped due to Muslim tradition, which in fact it wasn't even the muslim tradition, a body is to be buried at sea if and only if the person was to die while at sea.  Also, ironic that when re-election is coming up, and Obama's following was at its lowest, HE kills Osama bin laden.  A laughable fact also was possible Republican candidate Donald Trump's Apprentice show was on when he cut in on every channel.  The attack was all so storybook, storming the mansion jsut as they did to Scarface...shooting him through the eye like Moe Green in The Godfather...and dropping in from helicopters like the show The Unit.  I guess Michael Bay was one of his advisors.  They waited to announce his death to confirm it was him and had to do DNA testing.  YET on CNN this morning it was breaking in on the bottom line scrolling that they were doing more DNA testing.  They got his body verified by one of his wives.  I'm sure she would say, "no, that's not him he must still be alive, so keep looking for him to kill him."  I will gladly eat crow if something is proven, but nothing is proven yet.  apparently the NAVY Seals have to keep EVERYTHING secret of the mission.  Of course!  And apparently there are pictures of his dead body, but too gruesome to release.  Come on already! RIDICULOUS!

I do not wish death upon anybody, but I am happy & enthralled that the demise of Osama is at last completed. As for the Mets game, our late inning win for us gives not only the club but also the entire atmosphere of NYC - something to be proud of. As NY lifted from Mike Piazza's post Sept. 11 HR, NY got lifted even higher with Ronnie Paulino's double. That was more than just a double. It was a tribute to all the loved ones not just in NY - but statewide.
As for President Obama, he should now get the same credit he deserved for his action on the war on terror as FDR did with the great depression. Obama should now be classified as a world hero. I can't wait to tell my children and grandchildren that are yet to be born, what was the result when I voted for Obama - the first time that I got to vote.

This shows how technology today connects us all. Not that long ago something like this could never had happened unless put on the scoreboard. This instant show of patriotism would have happened anywhere across the nation that a game would have been played. In DC a small crowd gathered outside the White House and not even a half hour later it was a huge crowd chanting USA! USA!. College campuses across the nation the same thing happened. It is now a connected world with the technology today. As a matter of fact the President was going to announce this but the media learned of it before he could hold a press conference and the chants were going on before he even made his announcement. How fast news travels in the world today. Astonishing. Around the world Americans were feeling good after the news. Bin Laden is dead and gone, HORAY!!!!!! Way to go navy seal team!!!! And all that fight to keep us free and safe!!!!!! They are the real hero's here.
