MLB investigates A-Rod's cousin, finds no issue

By Matt Snyder

The cousin who Alex Rodriguez said was his accomplice to using PEDs back in 2003 has been spotted at the Yankees team hotel on a recent road trip, according to the New York Daily News. In turn, Major League Baseball is investigating what kind of access, if any, has been granted to Yuri Sucart -- the cousin in question. (ESPN New York)

During spring training of 2009, Rodriguez discussed with reporters his drug use back in 2003, and said that he had a cousin who would travel to the Dominican Republic and get access to performance-enhancing drugs and bring them back for Rodriguez's use. Though the name was never used, that cousin was later revealed to be Sucart. Since then, Sucart has been banned by the Yankees from having contact with the team and MLB has forbidden him from gaining access to restricted areas.

Thus, when Sucart was spotted at a hotel in San Francisco where the Yankees stayed during their series against the Oakland A's -- in addition to the Daily News report that Sucart has been a "constant presence" on the road for the Yankees since last season -- a red flag was raised.

Sucart is not, however -- and could not be -- banned from maintaining a relationship with his cousin or seeing him in any public place (such as a hotel).

I wouldn't call this a witch hunt just yet, but it's hard to get worked up about a player hanging out with his cousin -- especially since pretty much everyone involved in the initial situation said Sucart was only doing what A-Rod asked him to. If Sucart is being granted access to the locker room, that needs to stop, but if he's just visiting with his cousin, I'd say there's nothing to see here. Any suggestion that Sucart is going to somehow harm Rodriguez would be suggesting that A-Rod had no idea in the first place what drugs he was doing in 2003 -- which is obviously ridiculous.

UPDATE: ESPN.com is reporting that Major League Baseball has resolved the issue and found nothing wrong. Just as I suspected, it was much ado about nothing.

MLB investigates A-Rod's cousin, finds no issue

Yes the article is about Arod....Big deal....Usually in this forum called a "Blog"; "adults" sometimes talk about "different" things. Can you participate in a discussion among adults? LOL!

Maybe when you actually act like an adult and not the whiny little crybaby you are showing me you actually are and face up to the Fact that this is not about The Red Sox or what they did or what place they are in and just discuss what the blog is actually about Maybe then I will take you serious but all I see is you still deflecting and crying Wah Wah Wah!

Poor you, The Red Sox get special treatment.

If you were an adult you would see that this article is a fluff piece about your precious Arod not a vendetta from the Red Sox, but you don't see that All you see and say is  But But But!! RSN is blinded !!

and you sure don't go on about anybody else in MLB as you do the Red Sox. So who is panicking here??

Your excuses for everything are

Ortiz and Manny juiced!!  Adrian too!!  07' 04'  Tainted!!  RSN is blinded!! RSN in a panic!!

and you say I am in a panic LOL .

Actually what I saw was you saying that they need to put an asterik beside 2004 and 2007. Thats not all, that is the 2 years the Sox won. Why single them out when every team since the early 90s had dopers on them?  Unless you said it in a different post than the one I was refrencing.
Why NOT single them out? The "List" More importantly, the list from 2004 ALSO includes Nomar Garciaparra, Johnny Damon, Pedro Martinez, and Trot Nixon.

If the Rotoinfo.com list is accurate, that means that SIX of the 2004 Red Sox's KEY players were steroid users. Who has had more alleged users from one team during ONE year????? LOL

That's what I said.....It's ALL of MLB....It was called the steroid ERA....Since new testing in 2008 it should have ended.....Pitching started dominating at that time.......Thank you for agreeing

Yeah I sound upset,

Get a clue over there in Yankeeland. Upset is the one crying "Foul" because yet again Arod is in the news and not for his baseball abilities but what MLB thinks he might be doing for those Baseball abilities. .LOL

Seems to me the one upset is you ,always crying ..But But But.. what about Otriz?? What about Manny?? what about 04'07'?? and now you are crying about Adrian Gonzales .. Wow dude seriously?

The article is about Arod , Can you not read??

You are deflecting once again!

Keep proving my point  I am enjoying it!

Tisk, Tisk...In second place...Can everyone tell the panic in his voice??? LOL! Can you read? It's not deflecting at all. I said it before and I will say it again...Every team has users. From the past and in the present. Sorry you don’t realize that the Red Sox have/had users just like every other team in MLB. Seems fans like you in RSN are blinded by two tainted Championships, I guess!!! LOL! Someone sounds upset......As long as MLB has Red Sox employees watch dogging players, Ortiz wont be under the microscope........Same goes for Adrian Gonzales.....My point is, they need to put an asterisk in the record books...*2004 and *2007..Period end of story...

So just the Red Sox should have asteriks and not all the other teams that won that had ped users? Such as the Yankees,Marlins,White Sox to name a few? Fact is if you put an asterik beside just 1 team out of your hatred towards them that is just silly. Its all or none. I do find it funny as hell that you act like no other team was doing it when EVERY team had several players using. Oh well, its hard to fault a blind person....well blinded by hatred anyway.

Yeah , I saw that.. 2 freaking years ago!

Again my point is proven, Your dragging up stuff from 2 years ago, The article in question is now 2011 , The fact that you drag Ortiz into Arod's world is  exactly what I have said. Obviously MLB feels the need to keep a closer look on Arod. Not Ortiz.

Keep deflecting all your doing is proving my point again and again.

Hey Cybercat*, you want bbq sauce or another?
LOL

You right abouit the roids and the pot> Both are prevalient its hard to catch> I dont agree with roids as its cheating unless medically NEEDED and prescribed by a respectable doctor, and also if nothing else can  fix the prtoblem, but to take  them just to boost your stats, thats cheating
