Mark Teixeira

By C. Trent Rosecrans

While there was plenty of talk about batters being plunked during the recently completed Yankees-Red Sox series, there wasn't much done about it besides talking to reporters.

Well, with the Red Sox safely out of town, the Yankees got bent out of shape when Fausto Carmona hit Mark Teixeira in the second inning and the benches cleared. Sure, it wasn't much more than a basic baseball millabout, but it could be worth watching in the next couple of days.

On the first pitch after Curtis Granderson launched a homer to make it 4-0 Yankees, Carmona hit Teixeira between the shoulder blades. Teixeira got up yelling at Carmona, and manager Joe Girardi joined him.

Girardi and Indians manager Manny Acta also had a prolonged discussion about the day's events.

Carmona has now hit seven batters this season, and Teixeira has been hit seven times this season, including Tuesday against the Red Sox when he had to leave the game.

Carmona struck out Teixeira in the fourth in their next meeting.

youk is the toughest and most beaned player in the game, without question. Tex is a overpaid crybaby, who takes every beaning personally..... sounds a lot like a-roid, huh? The yankees think they're better than everyone and they think they're special..... I think they look old, have one good pitcher and will miss the playoffs this year, but hey, at least Jeter will get his 3,000th hit...

Outlaw - I apprieciate what the Yankees have done over the last 15 years. There are a lot of teams (Mets included) who wish thet were in the Yankess' position. I agree with you about the lack of passion shown in the Bronx lately. It's time the "winning with class" thing goes out the window, and return to the Bronx Zoo days of the late 70's. Now, that was baseball at its finest! The Yanks were figthing the Red Sox, and each other. No Yanks were getting plunked without retaliation. Thurman, Reggie, Nettles, Billy....I would enjoy seeing that again. A good and nasty Yankee team would be good for all of baseball. This nice guy thing, enough already.

Have always hated that bitch teixeira... just so damn whiney and unlikeable, plus that little face heputs on is just a joke.    As a team the yankees need to grow a pair of balls... they do nothing but bitch to the media as the Red Sox utterly destroy them in every facet of the game (yankees are EXTREMELY lucky the Sox started 2-10 so they can still be within a few games right now).   Go after the Indians instead and their worst pitcher and a guy who has absolutely zero control and a team who is falling fast after a fast start (losers of 12 of their last 16)..... kudos yankees, you should be proud of yourselves.

From what I've seen, the only bi*ches from NY are the Mets.  Oh, and especially when they play the loudmouth Phillies, and the Braves.  The excuses come out in droves.

After the Red Sox removed the Yankees backbones during their series, if this is what it takes for the Bombers to wake up, better late than never

You're absolutely right about that USA.  It's time the Yankees start waking up.  As I stated in another post, they've played with a lack of fire and intensity over the years since O'Neil retired.  Their 'revenge' after getting hit is to get on base or score a run or big hit.  This is fine if you win the ball game, but the Yankees players are getting pummeled all the time, especially against the red sox.  To get hit, then lose the game just makes it all worse.
If the Yankees are going to do anything this season, they better stop the ho-hum attitude and getting angry with themselves and the opposite team.  Time to stop playing the 'nice guy' card.

Let me start by saying that I am not a Yankee fan. However, that pitch was a purpose pitch, and Tex had every right to charge the mound and beat the living crap out of Carmona. There is no excuse for what Carmona did. I would keep that in the back of my mind, you never know, Carmona may have to cover first base one day......

Manny Acta had to "defend" his pitcher, but he knows what the deal was. Giradi vs Acta would have been an interesting main event. Carmona is simply spineless. How much courage does it take to throw at the first hitter after you have been taken out of the park? Why not make it even more obvious by hitting Granderson the next time he came up? Would Granderson have run out to the mound and whupped up on Carmona's behind? You better believe it. This is not the end of it, whoever plays first base for the Indians should be ready to have some dirt for lunch when he comes to the plate. After the Red Sox removed the Yankees backbones during their series, if this is what it takes for the Bombers to wake up, better late than never.
