Mark Teixeira

By C. Trent Rosecrans

While there was plenty of talk about batters being plunked during the recently completed Yankees-Red Sox series, there wasn't much done about it besides talking to reporters.

Well, with the Red Sox safely out of town, the Yankees got bent out of shape when Fausto Carmona hit Mark Teixeira in the second inning and the benches cleared. Sure, it wasn't much more than a basic baseball millabout, but it could be worth watching in the next couple of days.

On the first pitch after Curtis Granderson launched a homer to make it 4-0 Yankees, Carmona hit Teixeira between the shoulder blades. Teixeira got up yelling at Carmona, and manager Joe Girardi joined him.

Girardi and Indians manager Manny Acta also had a prolonged discussion about the day's events.

Carmona has now hit seven batters this season, and Teixeira has been hit seven times this season, including Tuesday against the Red Sox when he had to leave the game.

Carmona struck out Teixeira in the fourth in their next meeting.

Have always hated that bitch teixeira... just so damn whiney and unlikeable, plus that little face heputs on is just a joke.    As a team the yankees need to grow a pair of balls... they do nothing but bitch to the media as the Red Sox utterly destroy them in every facet of the game (yankees are EXTREMELY lucky the Sox started 2-10 so they can still be within a few games right now).   Go after the Indians instead and their worst pitcher and a guy who has absolutely zero control and a team who is falling fast after a fast start (losers of 12 of their last 16)..... kudos yankees, you should be proud of yourselves.

Wow, Teixeria needs to grow a pair and just take his base. Carmona is known to have control issues, and horrible ones at times which is why he can be a dominant ace one start and a D-League pitcher the next. It was a sinker that got away from him and would have just hit him in the lower back if Tex didn't drop to the ground. It wasn't intentional, and the Yankees were just venting anger over getting spanked by the Sox and never took out their anger on the right team. I'd love to see Girardi and Acta go at it though. Acta would dominate Joe and send him to the ER. Just play ball and if you want to talk tough, do it to the actual team that intends to plunk you. Next time the Yankees see the Red Sox they should actually do something about getting plunked and not wait to face a lesser team to regain dignity.

I really enjoy people talking about "defining moments" and "the Yankees suck now!" in the beginning of June. Two years ago the Yankees lost their first eight games to the Red Sox. That really destroyed the Yankees then too. Oh....wait.......no.......

I like how Texiera said carmona was aiming for his neck when even though tex bent down the ball only hit his shoulder blades.  And he threw a sinker.  Who is trying to hit someone with a sinkerball pitch???? If im trying to hit someone is gonna be with a straight fastball.  Go get paid yankees roster.

2 WS since 2004 is great. Those same 2 WS in the last 90 years is not great.  All depends on your point of view.

Really. Please the Yanks are playing like crap and their pitching sucks. If I remember right the sox have 2 World series wins since 2004. Not bad if you ask me. Sounds more like the Yankess need to make a statment against a team that hasn't won anything in forever. Since that is the only way they feel safe being the tough guys. Mopst hilarious highligh ever was Pedro Martinez taking down don zimmer. Well more like pushing him to the ground as the 72 year old Don Zimmer tries to go after Martinez. Most people probably felt that pedro was picking on an old man. Tough crap. Don't feel sorry for a guy that is 72 and can't make a smart decision to stay out of the fight. once a knucle head always a knucle head.

A little excerpt from an article about that time

" There's much debate about whether we should blame Zimmer for charging at Martinez or Martinez for dumping Zimmer to the ground. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, in a blatant attempt to pander to Yankee fans, said that Martinez should have been arrested after what he did. Admittedly, Martinez shouldn't have been throwing at the Yankees, but I'm not entirely sure what one is supposed to do when an insane 72-year-old man comes out swinging at you. Pushing him out of the way is probably the best option in a bad situation."

"Boston officials, meanwhile, have gone one step further than Bloomberg. Unlike the New York mayor, they're not merely suggesting that a Red Sox player be arrested. No, they're actually trying to arrest Yankee players. This is due to the ninth inning altercation in the bullpen between New York Yankees Jeff Nelson and Karim Garcia and Red Sox groundskeeper Paul Williams. Depending on whom you believe, Williams either attacked the Yankees first. Or Jedi Knight Paul Williams accidentally cheered against the Dark Side prompting the evil Yankee Stormtroopers to attack him mercilessly. (Oops, sorry.)"

Another "hold me back" baseball fight.    GAY!!.

Also weird timing for a horrible pitcher to try to prove some unknown point.

I'm all for pegging Yankees, just don't see the point here.  You stink Carmona, your focus should be on getting an out.
