Mark Teixeira

By C. Trent Rosecrans

While there was plenty of talk about batters being plunked during the recently completed Yankees-Red Sox series, there wasn't much done about it besides talking to reporters.

Well, with the Red Sox safely out of town, the Yankees got bent out of shape when Fausto Carmona hit Mark Teixeira in the second inning and the benches cleared. Sure, it wasn't much more than a basic baseball millabout, but it could be worth watching in the next couple of days.

On the first pitch after Curtis Granderson launched a homer to make it 4-0 Yankees, Carmona hit Teixeira between the shoulder blades. Teixeira got up yelling at Carmona, and manager Joe Girardi joined him.

Girardi and Indians manager Manny Acta also had a prolonged discussion about the day's events.

Carmona has now hit seven batters this season, and Teixeira has been hit seven times this season, including Tuesday against the Red Sox when he had to leave the game.

Carmona struck out Teixeira in the fourth in their next meeting.

Its past time we started hitting batters back, the league turns a blind eye? they cant say squat when an errant ball from a Yanklke pitcvher hits an opposing batter in the groin. Down twice, retailition will be nil.

I think they are a day late as they should have milled about puffing their chests last night . . . Beckett plunked them three times, got away with it,  and the Sox left town after taking three straight and First place away from the Yanks. They are probably a bit miffed (pissed?) over losing CC's start last night . . . Either way, the last series was a defining moment for the Yanks and the Sox just left making the Statement . . .

Here is what is going to happen:

The Red Sox will continue to hit people until one of their stars gets plunked and they loose him for the season. This will at least give their team/fans an excuse for another failed season.

You're lumping Bryce Harper, an 18-year-old kid in A ball, in with Milton Bradley?
My goodness, way to demonstrate a complete lack of baseball knowledge and perspective.
Actually the opposite, it shows great breadth of knowlege of all the scumbags.  Keep up.

Sportsnut...you're right...you didn't ask my opinion on hating the Yankees. But do you think I care? I have the right to my likes and dislikes and as a life long Orioles fan I grew up hating the Yankees. As for your logic after that you're dead on right about most of what you said: that's what root for and who I root against...as per your logic. Just to let you know, though again I'm sure you didn't ask, whenever I post in regards to the Yankees I ALWAYS start with "...I hate the Yankees". My right to say so takes precedence over your not asking. If you hurry I'm sure there is another bandwagon for you to jump on...but I'm sure you didn't ask my opinion about that either.

: great point but you were only slightly off.

The Yankees have not been hit more than any other team; they are actually second on the list. The White Sox have actually been hit the most but I think that is because even the opposing pitchers want to hear Ozzie say something stupid after the game. But the Red Sox have hit more batter than any other team. They have hit 40 batters, the next team is the Mets at 28! For all the stat people out there that is about 42% more than any other team.
