Brett AndersonGood news for the A's: Left-hander Brett Anderson met with Dr. James Andrews on Monday and learned he wouldn't need Tommy John surgery on his ailing left elbow. Instead, Anderson will have a Platelet Rich Plasma injection and undergo six weeks of rehabilitation, CBSSports.com senior writer Scott Miller tweets.

Anderson will be re-evaluated in three weeks.

The A's put Anderson on the DL last week with a sore left elbow. The 23-year-old is 3-6 with a 4.00 ERA this season. Last year Anderson twice went on the disabled list with elbow problems, so there's certainly reason for concern about his long-term prognosis.
