Hall-of-Famer Gary Carter was taken to a hospital Thursday night and released Friday. He was diagnosed with bronchitis after being rushed to the hospital with a coughing attack, the New York Post reports.

According to his daughter, Carter was having "shooting pains in his back." He underwent X-rays and a CT scan in his chest and back, which confirmed the diagnosis. Carter has been diagnosed with Stage 4 brain cancer.

"What a huge praise that it is not as serious as it could have been," his daughter Kimmy Bloemers wrote on the family's private website. "However, because of dad's condition, a chest cold can drain dad's energy more. The sweet nurse said that everything looked great, which was a relief."

Carter continued his cancer treatments on Friday.

Things like bronchitis/pneumonia are common when one goes the big pharma(big profit) chemo and radiation route.  Chemo and radiation destroy both cancerous cells and healthy cells while providing one with a terrible quality of life during the process.  Most people that choose this route only end up extending their misery for a short amount of time while big pharma continues to milk them for every dollar until the end.  I sure wish more people would seek out the natural and side effect free treatments that are out there and force the big pharma profit machine to stop deceiving sick people during their most desperate times.

True, and I know that. But anybody knows that's NOt where a person's name is. IT"S ABOVE THEIR AVATAR!!! He was not a great offensive catcher and millions of players have won a WC that aren't in the HOF! What's that got to do with anything anyways? Does winning a WC automatically put a player in the HOF? Is that the case your making? If it is, it's ridiculous! Your post is noted and forgotten even quicker considering your a biased Mets fan. Thanks for the biased input, you really put up a good arguement!Innocent

it looked like you signed your post "cup4pens" that might be why he called you that. Your assessment of Carter is your opinion and you get to have it no matter how lousy it is. He was a great offensive catcher as far as catchers go and he is remembered by most as a Met because he won a WC there. He belongs in the HOF and he is there so end of story. Your opinion is noted and forgotten just as quickly.

That's your own personal opinion. I watched him as an Expo for most of his years before he became a Met. And he was decent defensively but not very good offensively. Which doesn't put him in the company of the catchers that coiuld hit and play defense that are in the HOF. So why don't you tell me how great he was? Because I never saw it! His Expo's were always at the bottom of the NL. But I know you know everything and don't have the time. And that this blog isn't about basevball, right? So why talk baseball on Father's Day about a baseball player? We should be talking about cancer, right? And like he's the only one to ever get cancer? The 2nd leading killer behind heart attacks. There, I hope you feel better now. We can talk about disease's and have a really nice Father's Day. Thing is, millions die from cancer every year. maybe you should post about every person that dies from cancer this year. And Carter being in the Hall is a matter of opinion. I'm sure ther were some no votes. Or maybe he was so great, that he was the only unanimous selection to get in. I wondere what Carter would post about you if you were in the same boat. I will tell you. NOTHING!!! Because he has no idea who you are or probably even cares. So don't be a jack ass and take it so personal. I'll post what I feel like posting. Whether you like it or not, creep!!!!Wink

BTW, my name is not CUP4PENS, idiot!!!! (the dummy can't read either)Innocent

Hey Cup4pens. The fact that your compelled to give your opinion on Hall of Fame selection of a terminally ill man? Its not only inappropriate.. It just shows the level of ignorance combined with a severe lack of compassion. The pending death of a family man with children that are devestated about their fathers condition is the story. On this Fathers day the Carter family i am sure are honoring their Dad with love and appreciation of his life as a loving father. The story was about human emotion and a daughter in the hospital not knowing if she will ever see her dad again. I could sit here and bombard you with my baseball knowledge proving your utter stupidity regarding Carters HOF selection. That would only bring me down to your level of sub-human thinking. This article has nothing to do with baseball!!! Its about a distraught family dealing with a terrible life threatening tragedy that will effect them for the rest of their lives. Mr. Gary Carters ability as a catcher? Is the furthest thing from anyones mind. Unless of course? You are a complete idiot!!!!. Happy Fathers Day Gary. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I don't want to sound like I don't care or anything , so I'm wishing Carter and his family good luck. They are definately going too need it. But now that his name is brought up, which usually isn't, I have a couple baseball comments. Number one would be, when I think of Carter, I think of the Expo's and not the Mets! Number two would be, I don't belive he should be in the HOF. There are more deseving players and I have no idea how he was voted in. I never thought he was tht good but I guess they let just about anybody in these days. I always thought you had to be extra special? And Carter was not, for all those too young too have seen Carter play. That's it, and again, good luck to the Carter family!
