WangThe last time Chien-Ming Wang pitched in a professional baseball game was way back on July 4, 2009.

Days before the two-year anniversary of that start, Wang finally pitched in a game again by taking the hill for the Class A Hagerstown Suns, the same team that Bryce Harper plays for. The Nationals had signed Wang prior to the 2010 season and have been extraordinarily patient in the right-hander's rehab from shoulder surgery.

He only went three innings, but had an encouraging outing by whiffing three and not handing out any free passes although he gave up two runs on four hits. He induced six groundouts and one flyout, a number right in line with Wang's game. The Washington Times reported that Wang generally pitched in the 86-88mph range, topping out at 90 once over his 49 total pitches.

Wang's not going to be in the bigs anytime soon; there's plenty more rehab starts on the way. Still, the fact that he was able to get onto a mound and not have his arm disintegrate into pieces is a major step forward. And it's awfully nice to have Wang's double-entendre name back in the news.

Loved Chien -Ming when he was with the Yankees. I remember him hurting his ankle running the bases during some inter-league game and it all went downhill from there. When he was good, no one could handle that sinker he threw.
