Well, this is something you don't see every day. The Rays had a manager and three players ejected in the same half-inning. It was the top of the eighth and the Rays faced a 2-0 deficit to the Cardinals. Relief pitcher J.P. Howell, manager Joe Maddon and obviously several other Rays felt Howell was being squeezed by home plate umpire Vic Carapazza. Maddon was tossed after Lance Berkman drew a walk on a close pitch with two outs. A few batters later, Colby Rasmus put the game out of reach with a three-run home run. Before Rasmus had even completed his trot, Howell went into tirade mode. Just watch the highlight.

Check out the video on by clicking here.

Evidently, Howell and Maddon weren't alone in their feelings on the umpiring, because both David Price and Elliot Johnson were ejected from the Rays' bench for comments they were making from the dugout.

So, yeah, the Rays had four players ejected in the same half-inning. That's some efficient work in getting after the umpires.

Four Rays ejected in one inning

triple a call-up as home plate ump ....
the pitches to berkman were strikes.

no one should be expected to get 5 outs in an inning.

Four Rays ejected in one inning

OMG!!!!  That clip is absolutely hilarious!  Howell's actions were pretty funny as he slammed his mit into the ground and went "off the track"!  It is even better to see the entire Cardinal team laughing at him.  Just another reason to watch baseball as you never know what will happenLaughing!

Four Rays ejected in one inning

Only in baseball do players and managers get thrown out of games without warning for arguing with umpires. In basketball, it's two technicals before they get thrown out. When's the last time you saw an NFL or college football player thrown out of a game for arguing with a referee?

If you can't stand the heat, umpires, get out of the damn kitchen! We're not paying money to see you, we're paying money to see the players you are so conveniently throwing out of the games. I saw a game where Shane Victorino was thrown out of the game while he was complaining ... while he was out in CENTER FIELD! Especially when you have so much leeway towards balls and strikes and say it's "your" strike zone.

Stop thinking you're bigger than the game.

I don't like either of these teams but was watching the game anyway.  The Rays had a point for sure.  Cardinal pitchers were getting the corners and the Rays weren't.  It was pretty obvious. The umps should apologize for that one.
