Wilson blows save, erupts in dugout

For the second consecutive game, Giants closer -- and known beard enthusiast -- Brian Wilson blew a save. This one had an added twist, though, because he almost did it twice. Wilson entered the game in the eighth inning and lost the Giants' 1-0 lead, but the Giants put a three-spot on the board in the top of the ninth. So it should have been smooth sailing for Wilson in the ninth. Instead, he allowed three singles and a walk while recording only one out before being pulled.

When Wilson got to the dugout, though, the real fireworks happened. He took a bat to a Gatorade cooler and the wall, and then punched the wall. It was quite a tirade. I'm not sure why he couldn't take it to the clubhouse so no one else could see it -- oh wait, yes I am -- but whatever. Here's the video, courtesy of MLB.com.

The Giants ended up winning the game anyway. Jeremy Affeldt relieved Wilson and got out of a mess. Affeldt entered with the bases loaded, one out and a two-run lead. He induced a routine grounder that was booted by Emmanuel Burriss at second base, so it was then bases loaded, one out and a one-run lead. Tigers' outfielder Brennan Boesch then hit a liner up the middle that was snared by Brandon Crawford, who then doubled Brandon Inge off second base to end the game.

i agree 100% cody. "hey i'm going to throw this gatorade cooler! oh sh*t! that didn't look badass enough..let me go run over here and grab a bat and give it a beating!" i would have to disagree with the announcers though.."just don't get hurt!" no how about he does get hurt for acting like a complete tool...maybe then he will learn to control his tantrums!

That tirade looked well thought out and hardly spontaneous. Obviously knew the camera was rolling. We get it Brian, you were angry. Maybe it is time to stop reading your press clippings, forget about the ridiculous beard, and concentrate on your pitching. Or not, which is fine with me. I love watching your house of cards crashing down.

You mean doing all kinds of commercials doesn't guarantee success? You still have to work for it? Ask Joe Mauer.

Hehe I love watching videos of players going nuts in the dugout! Especially when I'm at work like I am now...

Wilson has a long way to go to catch up to Zambrano, though!

That's not CBS as a whole. That's on me. I was trying to piece everything together and just made an egregious error totally by accident. I was even watching the game and can't even remotely explain why I did that. I regret it and apologize.
