Report: A-Rod wasn't at poker game

Alex RodriguezBy C. Trent Rosecrans

You know that story about the illegal poker game with cocaine, celebrities, fights and Alex Rodriguez? It's a great story, but someone at the game said it all happened -- except for the A-Rod part.

Professional poker player Dan Bilzerian -- who was at that game in Beverly Hills and was the named source in the Star Magazine story fingering A-Rod -- told the New York Daily News that Rodriguez wasn't there.

"A-Rod was not at that game," Bilzerian told the Daily News. "It's ridiculous."

He added he remembered the game in November of 2009 at Cody Leibel's house, because he was "stiffed."

"He wasn't there, I'm telling you," Bilzerian said. "He was playing in the World Series at the time."

The 2009 World Series had three games -- Games 4, 5 and 6 -- in the month of November, with the Yankees winning the title on Nov. 4 at Yankee Stadium.

The second source in the Star Magazine report told the Daily News that he wasn't at the 2009 party, but knows a guy who had been at an "illegal house game" with Rodriguez.

"I never played with him in a home game, but I know [someone who] witnessed him at one. It was an illegal house game," the source told the newspaper, who requested anonymity and didn't "want to get A-Rod in trouble."

On Thursday, Rodriguez's publicist said there were "numerous factual inaccuracies" in Star Magazine's report.

Report: A-Rod wasn't at poker game

PJ, it's funny you brought up Michael Jordan.  I clearly remember the rumors that flew when his father was killed.  Stories were floating around that it was message from people who Jordan owed a ton of money to and it led to his "retirement" from the game for a little while.

To think that Bud Selig would take an article from THE STAR as gospel.  A-Rod may be a sucker for "leg"  but to mess up his money by showing up at a poker game he know he shouldn't be there?  PULEEZ!  He ain't that stupid!  Chasin' skirt is one thing.  Goin' have cocked letting your money get away by attending some half assed poker game is another!  Selig and MLB should be ashamed to let this story hit the streets before asking A-Rod!  MLB has mud on it's face over this one!!!

Report: A-Rod wasn't at poker game

Know plenty of people who have played in "Charity" Games with MLB players (Red Sox too) and those games have lead to cash games. It's a non story go away. Does anyone think even if an "Arod" type of player lost even 3 million he would flinch for one second? Wasn't Jordan accused of betting hundreds of thousand on card games in air planes, golf courses, even casinos the night before playoff games. In this day in age can reporters be professional enough to stop building mountains outta mole hills. This over-hype machine is outta control.

This story broke in that Hollywood rag The Star!  Anybody who believes any of that crap probably also believes some pill is going to make your weiner bigger.  ARod is not jepordizing this season or a spot in the HOF on some OC poker game I don't care how many high end call girls, starlets or blow is there.  The guy has made some mistakes that he has admitted to and he is forgiven period.  The guy is a class act on the field.  So what if he likes chicks...everybody get over it and quit beleiving and reading the crap at the super marker check out station!

Who cares? Nothing illegal or against MLB. $20k to him is like $50 to most of us. They say the card games on the planes when teams travel are big money which means this crap goes on all the time. Next!
