Dodgers' revenue tumbling

Frank McCourtBy C. Trent Rosecrans

Last week the Los Angeles Times estimated the Dodgers could lose $27 million from declining attendance, but now there's more concrete numbers -- and they aren't good. According to data filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court and reported by the Los Angeles Times, the Dodgers are on pace to lose more than $42 million in annual revenue since 2009.

In 2009 when Frank and Jamie McCourt announced their separation, the Dodgers brought in $282 million. Last season revenue dropped to $265 million and at its current pace, the team will finish at $240 million this year, the newspaper reported. It could be even worse, Andy Dolich, a former business chief for for the Athletics, 49ers and Grizzlies, told the Times'  Bill Shaikin, as teams usually make more money in the first half of the year than the second. And with the Dodgers' continuing woes, that would certainly make sense.

The court filing also showed inconsistencies from McCourt's previous filings, with more money going to McCourt's affiliated businesses than he'd reported before, although a spokesman for McCourt denies the discrepancies.

Dodgers' revenue tumbling

This sounds like goverment style accounting.
2009 282 million in revenue
2010 265 million in revenue
2011 240 million projected revenue

therefore with this kind of scewed up logic the article suggests they have lost 42 million!
The Dodgers didn't lose this money, they just didn't bring in as much revenue as they had in prior years!
They never had this money in the first place, so how can they lose it.They are still on pace for 240 million in revenues.
Revenues are down, that's the only story here.
An individual's income may flucuate down also. Does that mean we/they have lost money
also?? No, you just didn't bring in as much income as before.

Dodgers' revenue tumbling

I lived in both places Califorina and Florida. The WORST fans in sports are the Florida hands down. They are the most fair weathered fans I've ever been around. We go to a Marlins game and cheer our team on no problem. The Gators fans don't know from week to week if they are Canes fans or what. It's going to be funny when FSU starts winning and how the fan base will shift north .
The prices at Dodgers Staduim are outrages and parking, food are the start of it. No one here want  to support an owner like McCourt. I enjoy going to a Dodger game but I rather listen to Vin Scully on TV.

Dodgers' revenue tumbling

How sad that the only way the Dodgers can get on the CBS frontpage is for something negative. Of course it's not like the team is doing anything on the field to get themselves on the front page. As for supporting the Dodgers, I am supoorting them, I'm just not doing it from Dodgers Stadium. And you have to admit that it's hard to watch these guys sometimes. They're not what I call a MLB caliber team and to think there are teams that are worse! And if you think this season is bad you wait until next season.

Stevephoenix - this is a very interesting comment you make as i was in phoenix on thursday and went to watch the D-backs vs the Astros. Seeing that the D-backs are in first place there might have been 15,000 people physically at the game. Where is the support there?

Now being a Dodger fan I watch every game on or on the local tv channels. I do not want the McCour'st to have anymore of my money then they can get.

Embarrassing to the Dodgers fans for not supporting your losing team once again. LA and there people don't love there Dodgers and this poor losing team needs to get out of LA and to another city right away were they would care about this team and baseball for sure. Once again you Dodgers fans are the laughing stack of baseball you fools.
