Former major-league pitcher Curtis Leskanic has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and child neglect without harm (Orlando Sentinel). He was reportedly found passed out at the wheel of his pickup truck with his five-year-old daughter asleep in the truck. She was unrestrained, but fortunately unharmed.

Leskanic had a blood alcohol level of .331. The legal limit is .008. Leskanic's BAC was so high that he had to be admitted to and released from a hospital before being booked on the two criminal charges.

According to the police report, via Orlando Sentinel, it took police two attempts to wake Leskanic. Once he was arrested, he reportedly became angry and started screaming at the arresting officers. On his way to the hospital and the jail, Leskanic reportedly continued to exhibit "hostile behavior."

Leskanic, 43, played for four different teams over the course of 11 major-league seasons, including the World Series champion Red Sox in 2004. He also pitched for the Rockies, Brewers and Royals and was 50-34 with a 4.36 ERA in 603 career appearances, only 11 of which were starts.

Leskanic charged with DUI, child neglect

Dude has a severe drinking problem. Most people black out well before .25,  he must have an extreme tolerance. The mother of the child had to be aware of his drinking problem. He needs to serve some real time for this if these reports are accurate. But watch and see some attorney will find a way to have charges dismissed. Perhaps his BAC was done through a blood test while he was passed out? IDK, but it seems that these extreme cases involving athletes seem to fade away.  I feel sorry for the little girl.

I remember him being a little mental while pitching for the Rockies. As I recall, he has once shaved the hairs of his right arm, hoping to add a few MPHs to his fastball.

.331 is a great batting average.  It's not so good for a BAC.
