Omar Vizquel will turn 45 next April and he hopes he's still playing in the big leagues.

"I would love to have an opportunity to play another year," Vizquel told the Chicago Sun-Times. "I'm not expecting to play every day but I think I have the ability to play."

Vizquel has played in 57 games for the White Sox this season, starting 19 games at third base, 14 at second base and eight at shortstop. He's also served as the team's DH and played first base in one game.

An 11-time Gold Glove winner, Vizquel has one error this season. It came at second base. Overall, he's hit .245/.282/.294 without a home run and eight RBI. He is a career .272/.337/.353 hitter and 161 hits shy of 3,000 -- but he has just 182 over the last three full seasons.

"I feel 35," Vizquel told the newspaper. "I look at players on this team who are around that age or less. You look at them playing … the body language is not what you like to see. I don't think I have that kind of body language and I don't like to show it even if I'm tired. I feel great. I still have the passion, still have the legs."

Vizquel hopes to play in 2012

1 of the classiest guys to ever play the game! i hope he plays next year! 3000 hits would be a great accomplishment, but anybody who knows Omar knows he's a team player, and isn't about personal stats.
