SchillingBy Evan Brunell

Curt Schilling told WEEI Tuesday morning and said he doesn't think the Red Sox will make the playoffs, adding that there has been a significant momentum shift that now falls in the Rays' favor.

“It’s kind of crashing down around them,” Schilling added. “Somebody asked me last night about them making the playoffs and I said, ‘You know how I feel about these guys, you know how I feel about [manager Terry Francona] … I don’t want them to make the playoffs because I don’t think they have a chance to go anywhere.’”

Well, Francona has a response to Schilling, even though he did not hear his former ace's (photo: 2007) comments until being told.

"I don’t give a [expletive]," he said.

Francona didn't have much else to add, but Schilling did. He took to Twitter to deflect criticism, saying, "What I think, not what I want. I want them to get in and win it all, if they need someone like me motivating that's an entirely diff chat."

Francona also addressed David Ortiz's remarks that it was time to convert Alfredo Aceves to a starter. Aceves has served as a long reliever for the Red Sox the entire year and has been incredibly successful in doing so. As the Red Sox rotation stands in tatters, the call for Aceves to make some starts is growing.

"Believe it or not, I haven’t read a paper," said Francona. "There’s so many [media members] here that if you ask questions and someone gives an answer, I’ll be answering them all day. For Schill and for David, I’d rather just do the game."

I think firing Frncona is about the dumbest thing yet. How typical of over-reacting part time fans to say something they heard someone else say - and the idiocy gooes on, and on, and on. As yet, I have not heard anything coming out of Schillings mouth since his retirement that is worth repeating, or paying attention to. SCurt, go back and work on that Video Game business...and leave baseball to those who still play the game!

Get rid of Terry! He's a bum who's lived off the backs of David Ortiz and the Youck for years. The Schill is spot on with his comments that without himself, the Sox have absolutely no shot in the playoffs. Red Sox Nation and the whole New England area would be much better suited if they would just listen to the Schill. Lord knows, he spouts off enough about anything and everything. The only problem is that nobody cares what this jerk has to say about the weather, politics or the dire straits of the Red Sox.

Francona doesn't even manage the game, he's basically a paid spectator... I'll bet the players fill out there own lineups, and pitchers do a coin toss to see who will come out in relief.

You may think Francona is arrogant but realistically what would you have him say in that spot?  He needs to show his team that he doesn't give two seconds of thought into what someone outside of the organization thinks.
Oh and Shilling saying 'I don't want them to make the playoffs because I don't think they have a chance to go anywhere' is one of the dumbest sports comments I've heard in the last few weeks.  Shilling guess what!  Not many people thought the Giants were going to win going into last years playoffs and look what happened.

Fire Francona? Are you insane? I think a 742-546 record (.576%) 2 World Series and 2 pennants speak for themselves. Oh, and Schilling's a bloated wind bag that no one cares to hear from anymore. Go away you idiot.
