The Marlins announced Ozzie Guillen as their new manager on Wednesday, signing him to a four-year deal worth $10 million, as MLB.com reports.

"We're very excited," Guillen said at a stadium news conference Wednesday. "It's a big, big step in my career, a new chapter. Hopefully I can bring energy, flavor and enthusiasm, but the most important thing is a winning team."

The White Sox released Guillen from his contract on Monday and on Tuesday it was revealed that the Marlins would send two prospects -- infielder Ozzie Martinez and right-hander Jhan Marinez -- to Chicago in exchange for Guillen's rights.

Guillen served as the Marlins' third-base coach in 2002 and 2003 before being named the White Sox skipper for the 2004 season. He led his team to the World Series in 2005. In eight years as Chicago's manager, he went 678-617. Now, he'll be piloting the Marlins during a sea change -- the team is changing its name from Florida to Miami, creating a new logo and moving into a brand-new stadium. In addition, the historically thrifty club is expected to jack payroll up to take advantage of the new stadium and increased fan interest to try to make baseball viable in Miami after years of empty crowds.

"I'm very excited about the new park," Guillen said. "It's pretty nice - wow. I hope the fans will be excited about the new era for the Marlins. They should be excited. I want the fans to go there and say, `This is a beautiful ballpark, but let's watch the guys play.'"

Prior to the news conference,  Guillen tweeted:

Marlins introduce Ozzie Guillen as manager

Yup, you can "clown" on Ozzie all you want... but the man was angry over NOT being taken care of ($$$$$$) by Kenny (I'm the only pimp on this block) Williams and the rest of the White Sox's front office. This isn't like Barry Switzer walking into the Dallas Cowboys job here folks (here's the key's to the fastest car in the race) when the next coach arrives. Ozzie wasn't wanted by Sox's ownership so he didn't care anymore but he kept them close most of the year. Be careful what you wish for White Sox fans because I don't trust Kenny Williams any further then I can throw him.

Ozzie is garbage and he was always running down his own players to the media.  Who would want to play for a guy like that?  He underachieved big time in Chicago with the talent he had.

No matter what the Sox do in the next 3-4 years, NOBODY will be sorry to have seen Ozzie go. Along with a losing records in 3 of 5 years despite top payroll, Ozzie's teams have produced:  A garbage offense, a total lack of heart and would be described as "underachieving" in almost every facet.

Ozzie blows.  2nd worst manager to win a WS.

Marlins to introduce Guillen as manager

If a screw up is someone who has earned millions of dollars and has an above 500 record as manager and somone who brought a world series title to Chicago something no one has done in 88yrs then it must be nice to be a total screw up.  Williams is the one who should have been fired!  The Whitesox will wish that Ozzie never left in about 3 or 4 yrs or when he wins his 3rd or 4th championship with the Marlins.  There is alot of talk of players now wanting to head to South Beach to play for this screw up.

Must be nice to be a total screw up and get a $10M job.  Ozzie is a lousy manager, a psycho and he can't even speak English!!  How does he also keep getting jobs as an announcer?????  Seems like people are dying to pay him for horse$%#* work.
