Good grief. How can somebody hold themselves out to be a baseball writer, and pick Derek Jeter as the Series MVP? That's just plain ridiculous. Geez. Anybody can do this. I'm picking the Vikes to win the Super Bowl and Donovan McNabb for MVP. Makes just about as much sense.

What play-off team has not been in the play-offs in two decades?  The Tigers?  They lost the World Series to the Cardinals in 2006 in 5 games. That was the year all the experts predicted them to sweep too.

Both the Philles and the Cardinals pitching staffs have great records during the play-offs.  However the Cardinals lost a 20 game winner and annual Cy Young contender in Adam Wainwright in spring training.  You have to give the starting pitch edge to the Phillies no question.  The Cards though did hit them well during the regular season so we shall see tomorrow if they can keep that up. I find it shocking that both these teams are orginal National League franchises dating back to 1892 and this is their first post season meeting.  Kind of cool.

As always, Knobler shows that he is the resident baseball guy.  The MMA and football guys don't know baseball from a math book.

Who are these so-called experts who pick a team that hasnt been in the playoffs for over a decade to beat a team that has been in them for every year except on in the last two decades?  The Tigers have no bullpen; which is why they are desperately putting five of their starters in the bullpen.  Teams without a legitimate bullpen seldom, if ever, win a postseason series.  Brad Penny does not put fear into the hearts of opposing hitters.

First Round Picks

Yanks over Tigers in Four - Tiger bullpen will implode and Yanks will win all the close ones
Rangers over Rays in Four - Rays have problems with their pen as well as Rangers have better all-around pitching
Cardinals over Philles in Four - This is just a hunch.  Philles should win it, but Cardinals seem to have their number during season.
Brewers over Diamondbacks  in Five - This is the tougest match to call.  Could go either way, but Brewers have the better arms.

ALCS

Yanks over Rangers - Yanks get revenge for last year

NLCS

Brewers over Cardinals - Much better pitching

World Series

Yankees over Brewers - Brewers should win, but Yankees have been there before.

All that means nothing! Post season is a new season and you should check the Phillies starters records during the playoffs. This series will never go more than 4 games and 4 games is very generous. Im taking all bets on this series. If the Birds are smart they will also wait to run Garcia out there until they get home for he is not very dominant on the road. Rays and Tigers in the WS.... Rays in 6.

I stand corrected.  The Nationals won 10 and lost 8 vs the Phillies and those are the only two NL teams (Cardinals and Nationals) with winning records vs the Phillies.  I have attached a link to see for yourself.

Actually thats not true.  The nationals for one are 9-6 against the Phillies.  I bet another team probably had a winning record against them too.

Actually it is the Cardinals not the Brewers that are the best hitting team and had the best OBP this year.  The Brewers are dangerous though no doubt.  The two teams split against each other this year winning 9 games each.
