The Cardinals still have THE ONLY winning record vs. the Phillies in the National League.  That is a fact.  They still faced the Philadelphia top starters and the majority of their players (Howard was removed) because their manager wanted to be fair to the Braves at the time and compete as he did for the Cardinals when he beat the Braves.  The only caveat was the starting pitching was held to a pitch count of 75-80 pitches.  The Cardinals got to their starting pitching all year.  Now, it is the post season and therefore a new season and yes the Phillies are the favorites no doubt.  I think it is a mistake to discount the Cardinals as it is probably the toughest team for the Phillies to face.  The Cardinals lead the NL in offense and on base percentage this year.  They had the best pitching staff in the month of September.  They have momentum, an experienced post season team, a seasoned manager that knows how to win, etc.  They also do not have a losing record with any play-off in the NL having gone 9-9 vs the Brewers and 4-3 vs the D-Backs in addition to going 6-3 vs the Phillies as previously mentioned.  They are a dangerous dark horse in this race.

My prediction (a bold one, I may add):

LDS
Yankees over Tigers
Rays over Rangers
Brewers over Dbacks
Phillies over Cards

LCS
Rays over YankeesPhillies over Brewers

WS
Rays over Phillies

Not saying it's a smart pick, but just my 2 cents.

Funny you say that because didnt the Giants, one of the worst hitting teams in baseball beat every single one of those pitchers you mentioned last year?

Bizaar month of September. Or is that Bizarre?

Keeping with the trend of last month, It's D'Backs and Rangers in the WS, with D'Backs winning...

Wow, it is a pretty interesting mix of people these guys have to win it all.  They have 4 of the 6 teams covered and went with the number 1 seed for 3 of the 6.  Rangerman, I like your post with the headlines and they could all come true, or maybe they wont.  I know last year, as a Phillies fan, it was painful to watch the weak hitting San Francisco Giants win it all, and embarrass us.  90% of the time, pitching wins championships, so you have to look at the Tigers and Phillies.  Actually, I might even through the Diamondbacks in the mix.  So let me take a whack at my own headlines:

Tigers beat Yankees - Verlandishious!
Rangers beat Rays - Just Cruz-in!

Phillies beat Cards - It's Hallady, not Holliday!
Diamondbacks beat Brewers - Not Braun-y Enough!

Tigers beat the Rangers - Mister Fister!
Phillies beat the Diamondbacks - Chase-ing the title!

Tigers beat the Phillies - Phils fell off the Cliff!

It definitely would be interesting to see Verlander vs Halladay in game one and five of a world series.
