Houston to the AL West. Makes sense if Texas likes the Idea, and if Houston really likes the idea. Of course two teams could move. It would work just as well to move Houston to the NL West and Colorado to the AL West, or even Arizona to the AL West. But like I said somewhere else. Leave things alone. Get rid of IL play. Have only 4 Divisions NL 2x8 and AL 2x7 with 3 teams from each division making the playoffs First series 3 games. Division winner has a bye. You can make it real important to win division. Teams don't have to adjust to a DH roster. But MLB is too enamored with IL play. Going to two 15 team leagues will require more IL play and unfair scheduling.

Mr Simple Minded,  You don't want to move the Astros becaure of their 30 year traditional rivalries?  Yet you want to move either Philly or Pittsburgh who have been in place (and in the NL) much longer.  When MLB decides to start moving franchises around, they usually start with the doormats (you know, like Houston).  By the way, Houston and Arlington are farther apart than Philly is with either NY or DC.

the rangers are a fad???  have you missed the AL team in the World Series for the last 2 years?

You must be unemployed with tons of free time to comment on subjects that you have zero interest in. What are your thoughts on Iran and Solar energy? I bet your insight is fascinating! MLB is doing just fine without your valuable insight.

I don't think any of it makes sense. Expanding 2 more teams would make most sense. if not, then getting rid of IL games and having 2 8 team leagues in ther NL and two 7 team leagues in the Al ( even though the AL would have to play a slightly unbalanced schedule. Let the top 3 teams in each Div make the playoffs. The bottom 2 play a best of three, then a best of 5 and then a best of 7 and then the WS. You could reward the higher finishing team with the additional home game. Best of 3 (2 and 1) Best of 5 (3 and 2) Best of 7 (2-3-2). It is too bad but if you are the lower finishing team, you don't get a home game (in the first 2 rounds) unless you win a road game.  The object is to reduce travel and give the higher finishing team some advantage for finishing higher. Everybody gets TV money. This way 12 teams get a shot instead of 8. And the unfairness of IL scheduling goes away. If the NL wanted to operate basically two separate leagues, it would cut down on travelling immensely. Or they could op for a 14 game schedule against each division opponent (98 games) and an 8 game sched for every other opponent (64 games). The latter is workable but rainouts could get messy.

it makes so much more sense for so many reasons to move either Pittsburgh or Philly to the AL instead of Houston. Houston and Arlington are way too close to be competing for a fan base. Moving one of the PA teams means that only California would have teams in the same state that share the same league, versus creating more states with the same league shared teams. And since Milwaukee was the last to jump to the National League, the commish should take his pride and joy and undo the move back to the AL if it created an offset situation. Why move a team that has a 30 year history with rivals? This is a disaster of an idea. I hope it falls through for the fans. The Astros will have to move within 5 years if they go to the AL because they cant compete with Texas, two straight years to the World Series and a boatload of talent coming up. Why would anyone pay any mind to the lowly Astros? And about to get even lower.

If the AL West is as WEAK as most sports experts say it is then the Astros would easily contend in the division. If I was Crane I would keep my big mouth shut and even pay more for the team now that I'm practically asssured of winning the division each year. The Angels have gotten old. The A's are always too young and too injured. The Rangers are a fad while the Mariners cannot decide on how to build a contender.

So is this s*** happening this offseason?  If so how is the schedule going to work for next year?  Fewer games and more off days? Interleague all year? 

Chip Bailey, the Houston chronicles’s fanblogger, asked fans what they wanted the $50 million spent on. Someone said, buy the whole TB team. Someone else said buy the whole Tampa Bay front office and scouts (which is at least a bit more plausible). Most of the comments were along the lines of send it to back to Bud Selig with instructions on where to put it in his anatomy.
