Colby Lewis will remain with the Texas Rangers, as the team has decided to pick up his $3.25 million club option for the 2012 season.

Lewis, 32, will easily remain in the Rangers' rotation next season. He may even be the opening day starter, if C.J. Wilson leaves via free agency. In fact, it seems like the Rangers could handle that loss. Lewis, Matt Harrison and Derek Holland could be joined in the rotation by two from the group of Scott Feldman, Neftali Feliz and Alexi Ogando -- should the Rangers choose to take that path. Jon Daniels did say Monday that Feliz would be considered as a rotation candidate (T.R. Sullivan) and that's not surprising at all considering there have been similar discussions in the past.

Lewis was 14-10 with a 4.40 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 169 strikeouts in 200 1/3 innings during the regular season in 2011. His ability to raise his game in the postseason is a huge plus, too. He's 4-1 with a 2.34 ERA in eight career postseason starts.

The Rangers do not have a true Ace and that is their problem.  CJ is the closest thing to an Ace the Rangers have and he may be leaving.

That should be a good enough lineup to get you another runnerup trophy

This is defintely good news to me.  Colby may not have pitched that great during the regular season, but the guy has been an absolute hero on the mound for the rangers in the playoffs.  He had composure and he threw strikes, which everybody else on the team forgot how to do.  We need more guys like Colby that will attack the strike zone no matter what.  It sickened me how gutless are pitchers were in the playoffs, especially neftali feliz.  It seemed like everytime he came in he walked the leadoff hitter.  It finally came back to bite him in the World Series.  WE NEED GUYS WHO CAN THROW STRIKES!

Good move by the Rangers.  CJ can walk as far as I'm concerned.  All he does is make excuses.

Neftali will be in the rotation next year.  He's been a starter his entire life until the Rangers made him a closer.

Rangers rotation in 2012:

Colby Lewis
Alexi Ogando
Dutch Holland
Matt Harrison
Yu Darvish

Scott Feldman as the 6th starter.

Ya heard it hear first folks.

Ogando has to do a lot of off season conditioning, He proved that a full season as a starter is too much for him, please look at his before and after all star break numbers. We also saw just how bad a burnt out reliever can be in the playoffs, just look at his World Series #'s. If he bulks up for durability and works on location for his pitches, He could be better than good for Texas

I wouldnt risk Feliz as a starter, even though he choked big time in the Series, he belongs in the pen as the closer.  Ogando could perform well as a four or fifth starter.
