Report of Reyes signing with Marlins premature

ReyesBy Evan Brunell

Despite a report by SiriusXM's Dino Costa saying Mets shortstop Jose Reyes was a Miami Marlin, CBSSports.com's Scott Miller reports that no deal has been reached yet, according to sources. Costa has already backed off his report, saying that Reyes will only be a Marlin provided Hanley Ramirez agrees to move to third base.

Earlier reports did have Reyes closing in on a deal with the Marlins, who have come out guns ablazing as they move into their new stadium next season. However, for Reyes to sign so quickly would be premature, and Miller notes that while the Marlins really want Reyes, Miami has not closed in on any deal.

For Reyes to sign with the Marlins, a spot at shortstop needs to be freed up. That's where Ramirez comes in, who has to agree to move to third -- or possibly center field -- to make room for Reyes. Earlier this week, Ramirez did not sound keen on making such a move.

Reyes hit .337/.384/.493 in 126 games for the Mets in 2011, missing time with hamstring issues but still swiping 39 stolen bases.

Please reference exactly where Hanley "made it clear" that he wouldn't move to 3rd?  Hanley merely said "I am at short stop right now" meaning that as of the moment, that is where he is, but that could change.

Starblazer, your my hero.  I'd root for them even if they went 0-162 which may be a possibility.  Reyes missed 26 games, I know not all due to injury but the majority.  Funny I cannot go to my boss and say I need a day off to get my head together.  If I do it is either vacation, no pay or unemployment.  Baseball players get November, December and January and part of February off, nice vacation benefit.  If you do not make the playoffs, October too.  Reyes has never been a big favorite of mine so let'em go.  The Mets will survive and we will keep mumbling about them but we love them, it is in our blood which we will probably spill a lot of in 2012!  Let Go Mets!

It sucks being a Mets fan
No it doesn't. What stinks are fans who abandon ship over one player. Those aren't true fans. Go root for the Rays.

Report of Reyes signing with Marlins premature

to get reyes the marlins will have to trade hanley ramirez who has made it clear he doesn't want to play 3rd base , would be a dumb move for miami since reyes is always hurt and ramirez is actually a better hitter and fielding shortstop ( went not loafing lol ) and has almost as many stolen bases so why go after reyes .. doesn't make sense .. but alas the got the top goof ball ozzie running the show with those god awful new uniforms to sell this year haha
