Rangers catcher Yorvit Torrealba may be facing a long suspension -- or more -- in his native Venezuela after striking an umpire during a game for Leones del Caracas on Friday.

Here's the video, with Torrealba hitting Dario Rivero Jr., around the 1:00 mark.

Torrealba was ejected after striking out swinging in the eighth inning. Torrealba is hitting .246/.290/.333 in 17 games for Leones.

"[We're] aware, but we haven't got much info yet," Rangers general manager Jon Daniels told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "We will look into it."

When asked by the paper if there could be further disciplinary action against Torrealba for his actions in a non-MLB game, Daniels said it "depends on the circumstances."

Honestly, is this news....the ump looks like a footlocker knock off and its not like Torrealba is even remotely good.  Lets try and keep our scrutiny to American sports...I watch mlb not whatever that game show is...

I aren't going to say anything about the umpire, but is he taking out his frustration for striking out just for the sake of it or did the umpire wind him up either earlier in the game or after he struck out.

Whatever the reason; he needs to be more professional and grown up than lash out at umpires.

Petulant and spoiled brats wind me up!

Yes, some umps stink, but games move fast and most try their best. This is inexcusable- on a called strike? Due to all the complaining, the average ump/ref at all levels lasts 1.5 seasons before quitting- cut them some slack and act like a professional.

Yeah, but he might be good.  That's all the MLB cares about.... Nothing but a business.  It's sad, but.... all our heroes growing up are just pawns in the scheme of rich business men.

Well he picked the right league to take his frustrations out in , I don't think MLB can do a damn thing about this...unless his team (Texas) want's to suspend him.

if you notice after he strikes out he slaps his bat, The umpire then appears to toss him, probably a reach by the ump, but not deserving a pop to the head.
