Rangers catcher Yorvit Torrealba may be facing a long suspension -- or more -- in his native Venezuela after striking an umpire during a game for Leones del Caracas on Friday.

Here's the video, with Torrealba hitting Dario Rivero Jr., around the 1:00 mark.

Torrealba was ejected after striking out swinging in the eighth inning. Torrealba is hitting .246/.290/.333 in 17 games for Leones.

"[We're] aware, but we haven't got much info yet," Rangers general manager Jon Daniels told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "We will look into it."

When asked by the paper if there could be further disciplinary action against Torrealba for his actions in a non-MLB game, Daniels said it "depends on the circumstances."

After swinging at a a bad pitch and missing so badly, I'm surprised he was able to make contact with the umpire!! Bring america's game home and let them foreigner's stay and play at home!

Rangers' Torrealba hits umpire in Venezuela

After watching approx 70% of Rangers games last season, I am honestly very surprised by this. Never ever saw this side of Yorvit.

That being said, dude should NEVER EVER touch an Umpire. I hope he not only is banned in Venezuela, but has repurcussions in MLB as well. Knowing how Jon Daniels and Nolan Ryan work, wouldn't surprise me to see Yorvit somewhere else this next season....especially with the emergence of Mike Napoli.

Rangers' Torrealba hits umpire in Venezuela

We didn't get to see the whole at bat but just by the video he swung and missed so he  should be mad at himself. Looks like the Rangers will be looking at this video and getting him into anger management classes. There is no use for that behavior in any league.
