Jones hit .247/.356/.495 with 13 home runs and 33 RBI as the team's fourth outfielder in 2011, his first with the Yankees.

Jones impressed the Yankees both on and off the field, accepting his role as a reserve and excelling. The Red Sox and Orioles, among other teams, were interested in Jones, according to Heyman.

Good move by the Yankees in my opinion just wonder what took so long. I guess they are out on Yoneis Cepedas, I bet he ends up on the Marlins.

Jones already played for the Yankees before and that didn't turn out well. Are the Yankees hoping for better results or have forgotten how putrid Jones was?

As someone on another board very eloquently explained, the new CBA is what's causing the Yankees to act like they are the Kansas City Royals. That being the case, barring a major trade of some sort,we can expect a repeat of 2011.A playoff appearance is probable, and an early exit is likely.

He's a bench player, nothing more. He can't play every day and be effective, but he is a nice 4th outfielder. Good defense too, and a veteran. Just don't play him everyday.
