Cuban outfielder Yoenis Cespedes told Dominican reporter Dionisio Soldevilia (via Twitter) that the Marlins, Cubs, White Sox, Orioles, Tigers and Indians have "a lot of interest" in signing him.

Cespedes made his Dominican Winter League debut on Thursday night, going 0-for-3 with three strikeouts and was hit by a pitch for Aguilas. Cespedes served as the team's DH and batted fifth in the team's 6-4 loss. Aguilas plays again Friday night.

It was Cespedes' first competitive game since last April when he played in Cuba's Serie Nacional. While the performance couldn't help Cespedes' bargaining power, it shouldn't hurt it too much. It is, as they say, a small sample size.

Cespedes is not a prototype leadoff hitter, but for the Tigers that's exactly what he would become.  Next years projected lineup with Cespedes would be:  LF-Cespedes, RF-Boesch, 1B-Cabrera, DH-VMart, SS-Peralta, C-Avila, 2B-Raburn, 3B-Kelly, CF-Jackson.

With this lineup, pressure would be taken off Jackson and you should see his average go up along with his steals...you would have a platoon system at second and third base with Santiago, and Inge cycling through, and Laird would catch just enough to keep Avila fresh for an entire season.

For the Tigers, their last concern would be, assuming they indeed get Cespedes, to find a fifth starter and they could use Delmon Young to trade for a veteren lefty.

The kid is impressive. Check out his U tube video tryout with a dozen MLB faces, including Ozzie Guillen....He hit about 15-18 consecutive HR's in BP (yes it was BP, but better than ANY MLB HR derby performance you've ever seen) with 3-4 500 foot bombs out of the stadium,  and one series where he hit homers to RF,CF, LF and back LF,CF,RF, THEN turned around and hit 2 out of 3 out of the park LEFTHANDED (he's not a switch hitter).

He also has a better vertical leap than all but 1-2 NBA players, and is in the top 10% of MLB time running home to 1st and 1st to 3rd. He's got a good OF arm, too.

He's not real tall, but looks like Sammy Sosa in peak roid form.

He's a bargain at 4 yrs/$30 mil. if he can pass a drug screen, and probably a MLB impact ready player in 1 year.

Cespedes fits in well with the movement the Chicago Cubs Have started. Young talent that can be controlled for a fair amount of time. Should have plenty of cash to spend since there not getting in  on Prince. Young upside players seem to be the direction Theo and Co. are headed. If it were me though, I think the guy I'm more interested in is Soler.

Lets face it , He is a Marlin already. With a Huge Cuban population in Miami and Hialeah Area He will feel at home.
I think he is a bit over rated  but he could be a 20HR 75RBI guy and hit for average aroud 280.
But I would never give him a 4-5 year contract, 3 At BEST !

Somebody is going to way over pay for this guy and then find out he is 31, not 26. I hope I am wrong and he is as good as advertised, but most of these non U.S. players haven't been worth the money spent on them.
