Ryan BraunBy C. Trent Rosecrans

National League MVP Ryan Braun will appear at this Saturday's Baseball Writers Association of America dinner, as CBSSports.com Insider Jon Heyman reported earlier this month. But the question remains if he'll say anything regarding his positive drug test last season?

Braun's spokesman, Matthew Hiltzik, told the New York Times on Wednesday that Braun would show up, accept the award and make a short speech.

However, Braun, who hasn't made any public statements since news broke that he'd failed the drug test in October, isn't expected to do any interviews.

Braun, and other winners of the BBWAA awards, are expected to attend the dinner. It seems unlikely that he will address the failed test before his appeal is ruled upon by MLB.

Braun and his representatives have steadfastly denied any wrongdoing, while admitting the positive drug test.

This is what I love about sports websites.  A bunch of has beens and never wases thinking their opinion actually matters
I assume you are including yourself in that statement since you took the time to post it (and its nor your first post)?  As for me, I don't think my opinion "matters" anymore than anyone elses -- that doesn't mean we should all discuss our opinions, even if for no other reason than because we enjoy doing so.  If you don't like it then don't read the comments to the articles -- simple really.

This is going to be great: "I'd like to thank my illicit physician for prescribing PED's that really work. I'd also like to thank the makers of synthetic testoserone because with them I wouldn't be standing here today in front of all of you, feeling incredibly awkward. And, finally, I'd like to thank Major League Baseball, which, for so many years was so indifferent and incompetent in addressing the use of PED's that I believed I could still, in this day and age, take them without any real fear of getting caught."

Really bad move all around, I know Braun wants to proclaim innocence because he was under a doctor's care and taking a prescribed medication, but he should still decline.. and the league should be delaying this until the investigation with Braun is finalized. Herpes is part of life, but rules are rules.

even though the players of old took Methamphetimines so they could have more energy and play doubleheaders??? PED's have been in sports as long as sports has been around, not to mention Braun says he has a medical condition that is very confidential but will most likely be released to clear his name, from what I have heard and seen it is of Sexual Nature, possibly and STD or Impotence, something he should not have to declare to the public.

He's still getting it after he cheated? wow baseball has NO prestige or honor anymore. Cheaters take awards away from players who bust their ass. Sad day. I remember when you actually had to do this shit on your own.

His speech agenda should read something like:  an apology to the Brewers organization and all their fans...his fans, MLB fans in general, MLB in general and if he wishes, his family.  Next on the agenda, a formal decline to accept the award so that it may be given to a player that is deserving.

Of course he denies any wrong-doing....he been taught by former MLB stars to deny, deny, deny.  Is that an acne problem that can be seen on his pic above?  Ummm....isn't that a potential sign....or maybe he doesn't wash his face properly?  LOL   MLB should test these guys more often...and if they don't like it, quit....move to cuba and play ball there with all the riods/HGH they want....

First of all, if a player has no intentions of taking a banned substance, how on earth does he end up with it in his system???  With the stakes as high as they are, how can any player try to claim that they unknowingly ingested steroids? I dont care what any of them say, EVERY PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE knows exactly what they are putting into their body. The rules seem pretty simple to me, and i dont think players should even have the right to "appeal" a positive drug test. If you dont take a drug, it doesnt show up in your blood system, nuff said.
