Ryan BraunBy C. Trent Rosecrans

National League MVP Ryan Braun will appear at this Saturday's Baseball Writers Association of America dinner, as CBSSports.com Insider Jon Heyman reported earlier this month. But the question remains if he'll say anything regarding his positive drug test last season?

Braun's spokesman, Matthew Hiltzik, told the New York Times on Wednesday that Braun would show up, accept the award and make a short speech.

However, Braun, who hasn't made any public statements since news broke that he'd failed the drug test in October, isn't expected to do any interviews.

Braun, and other winners of the BBWAA awards, are expected to attend the dinner. It seems unlikely that he will address the failed test before his appeal is ruled upon by MLB.

Braun and his representatives have steadfastly denied any wrongdoing, while admitting the positive drug test.

Get out of here Braun lovers, the highest test in history? He's not innocent.
That's the point dummy. Guy who is not built like a body builder, doesn't have a gigantic head, has seen no spike whatsoever in his numbers dating from the time he debuted in the minors AND has been tested his whole career without ever failing all of a sudden not only tests positive, but has an HGH level that is not only the highest ever tested in his sport, but the highest ever tested anywhere......

That doesn't set off alarms for you?
There are peds out there that can be out of your system in 24 hours.  He's probably been using for years and finally got caught this time.  It just makes him look fooloish to keep denying it.

Every baseball player, I mean EVERY one of them, knows EXACTLY what they are putting in their bodies. And if they are unsure if a drug they are taking may break a rule or not, they have a 24-hour hotline they can call. They all know this.

Braun knows this too. The fact that a drug may have been prescribed to him makes no difference. He can still check it, find out it's on the list, and then ask the doctor to prescribe something else. He is not the first person to have a drug prescribed to him.

Either Braun cheated or he is stupid. No third choice. And I don't think he is stupid.

You have a list, it tells you exactly what you CANNOT put into your body. If any of those substances appear in your body, you have violated that rule and you will fail any drug test. Lets say he took something that his doctor prescribed to him, it would still be his fault for not knowing what substances were inside. IT DOESNT MATTER IF HE DID IT INTENTIONALLY!!!!! You and only you are responsible for what goes inside your body, nobody else.

How many times has MLB overturned a positive PED test that have administered????? 0 TIMES, they have never exonerated a player because of a "false poitive" test that was screwed up somehow. Why is that i wonder?  Because there is only 1 way that a drug can find its way into your system, thats if you put it into your body. Nobody magically produces substances like that inside their body.

He cheated, he is not going to win his appeal, and maybe one day he will admit that he screwed up.

ss52 - it is tough not to jump on the "he is guilty bandwagon" not because he IS but moreso due to the cloudies. olympic athlete know there are certain cough medicines you cant take or they will act as cloudies when tested. they know and understand the rules, and take their chances accordingly.

did braun know what he was taking would serve as creating a cloudy - not sure but i am guessing yes and if he didnt that is still his responsibility IF it was listed as a banned substance due to potential for cloudies

cloudies are nothing new - we raced horses through 1990 - 2002 and the standard move to mask performance enhancing drugs was a cloudy, real simple sodium bicarb, little water and wham cloudy and no fine. things have changed in that sport nw just like MLB and you know the rules or you pay the penalty.

unfortunately he will pay the penalty - guilty intentionally or not!

King1, I found your post rather amusing.  I don't see how Braun is guilty, it's not like he tested 4 times above the legal limit.  Oh.....he did.   If he tested like this on alcohol, that'd put him at a .32 or damn near dead.  However, I'm hoping he will get run out of the Brew Crew so that maybe the Pirates would pick him up at a discount.  Just wishful thinking and, by the way, I still like Braun, however, not near as much as before this story broke.
