Gary Carter's health worsens

Unfortunately, the news keeps getting worse when it comes to the cancerous tumors in Hall of Famer Gary Carter's brain. The most recent news is "extremely grave," per the New York Daily News. Carter fell violently enough on Christmas Day to tear his rotator cuff and the most recent MRI has revealed even more spots and tumors, according to Carter's daughter (on their family website).

What's worse, Carter doesn't sound like he's optimistic at all.

"I'm not feeling too good," he told New York Daily News a few weeks ago. "It's been coming on and coming on. I've had a chest cold. I've got sores in my mouth, blood clots. I get sick ... there's just so many things ... It's been nine months now and I don't feel any different from Day One. I haven't been up to doing any interviews."

Finally, the worst news of all is that the Daily News is reporting that doctors are considering no further treatment.

Prayers to him and his family. This is such a tough situation. The good people in this life should not have to suffer like this. May God Bless him and spare him from a prolonged illness, and bring him to peace in his next journey. Amen.

A really big shame. Solid catcher, good guy, and probably had the best man-perm of the 80s MLB if not in all of baseball history.

What a great cathcer.  I wish the best for Gary.  How can you forget Gary & the rest of the 1986 Amazing Mets.  What a bunch of players during an amazing season.  Life just isn't fair at times.

Gary Carter's health worsefx

I'm a Dodger fan. Carter gave them a lot of fits. Brings back the great Montreal team Dodgers beat in strike season. He has his flaws like we all do but if I was picking players for one game he would be my catcher. Seems like an eternity since those Mets Teams. Guess it is in the MBL in the Selig (Dark Ages) Era. God speed.
