Justin VerlanderBy C. Trent Rosecrans

Justin Verlander is on a roll. Not only did he pick up the American League MVP and Cy Young, but the Tigers' pitcher nailed the Super Bowl score in a celebrity Super Bowl poll.

Earlier this week, Verlander predicted the Giants' 21-17 victory over the Patriots in Super Bowl in the Scripps Howard Celebrity Super Bowl Poll. He was the only celebrity to nail the winner and score. Adam West, the original Batman on TV, had the score right, but the winner wrong, picking the Patriots to win 21-17.

Verlander took to Twitter to gloat:

As for other baseball players, Yogi Berra picked the Giants to win 23-20, former Dodgers pitcher Ralph Branca picked the Patriots to win, 20-13 and the San Diego Chicken also picked the Giants.

Sorry Verlaner. But it seems that the only chance the Motor City ever has is the Detroit Red Wings. Tigers pitching is suspect. Pistons, well...Ya. Lions, unless the decide to  a team therapist maybe.

Shhhhhhhhhhhh, stick to hockey man, it's obviously the only sport you know a thing about.  Two of the Tigers starting pitchers were in the top 4 in the American League in ERA, I'm talking about Verlander and Fister.  Scherzer just one year prior had an era of 3.50, he struggled last year but tons of potential there.  And Porcello had 21 starts with 3 runs or less given up in the 31 games he pitched.  His overall stats are bad because although his era in 21 of his starts was around 2.80, in the other 10 starts his era was 11.  But he's only a 23 year old kid with loads of talent.  And the Tigers had the best closer in MLB last year in Valverde, a guy that has been awesome for quite a few years now.  Not to mention one of the best setup men in Benoit as well.

The Tigers are going to be a very tough team to beat most days... don't kid yourself.

You crack me up. The tigers pitching, both rotation and bullpen, is at worst in the top 10 in baseball.
