Luke Scott takes a swing at Red Sox fans

Luke Scott

By C. Trent Rosecrans

Luke Scott has never been one to shy away from his opinions, and Wednesday the former Oriole and current Ray took aim with his tongue, not his 7 1/2-foot spear.

Scott. who was injured and didn't play in the Orioles' victory over the Red Sox on the final day of the season, said his teammates were pulling for the Rays to take the final playoff spot from the Red Sox.

The reason, Scott's not a fan of the Red Sox fans. From's Bill Chastain:
"Just their arrogance," Scott said. "The fans come in and they take over the city. They're ruthless. They're vulgar. They cause trouble. They talk about your family. Swear at you. Who likes that? When people do that, it just gives you more incentive to beat them. Then when things like [the last game of last season] happen, you celebrate even more. You go to St. Louis -- classiest fans in the game. You do well, there's no vulgarity. You know what? You don't wish them bad."
He added that the team's celebration went up a notch moments after the Orioles won when the Rays' Evan Longoria homered to knock the Red Sox out of the playoffs.
"Everybody's giving high-fives, then all of a sudden [Longoria] homers," Scott said. "Everybody's in the clubhouse and it's like, Bam! And we're like, 'Go home Boston! Pack your bags. See you next year.'"
Then on his way home, Scott even taunted Boston fans.
"It was like someone shot their dog. I rolled down the window and I'm like, 'Ah, hah, sucks doesn't it, when someone laughs or makes fun of you when things aren't going your way.'"
I'm guessing when the Rays and Red Sox play this year, the Sox fans may ratchet up their "ruthless" and "vulgar" ways.

Hey Kitch.....2008 is the past and so is 1983.  Remember what happened that year in the WS?  Might want to keep that mind if you want to slam the O's.   I have no beef with the Philly fans that are cool- that comment was meant for the obnoxious ones to Smoker.

I got no dog in this AL East squabble. I was in Baltimore 1 day a few years ago about 3-4 hours before an O's v Sawx 1 pm game. I couldn't help but see the Red Sox invasion of the area, but it was completely civil, friendly chiding between the fans, Sox fans respectful of the Oriole player memorials etc. Beibg an AL East outsider, I thought it was very cool. Scott was correct in that it seemed like an invasion, but it was a friendly one lol. That year the O's truly sucked but the game was sold out and the City vendors and merchants had a good weekend. There are turd fans from every city, but I think Scott's characterization of the Red Sox in general is way over blown. They do annoy me on these blog periodically, but I know it's because they're passionate about their team. Scott needs to lighten up and be glad that those fans pay his freakin salary.

Luke Scott takes a swing at Red Sox fans

As a Yankee fan I have been to Yankee Stadium and Fenway Park and I haven't encountered what Luke Scott said. No excuse for the vulger remarks but don't criticize the fan base who goes to Baltimore and Tampa to follow their teams. Yankee fans do the same. It is the passion we have for our teams. No you won't find that passion anywhere else I will agree with that. It is a east coast thing.

Every team has good and bad fans. Boston, NYY, and Philly fans are passionate about their teams win or lose.
Tampa and Baltimore don't draw enough fans to fill the stadiums so the opposing team fans show up and that makes the plaerys mad. Luke Scott just put a target on his back. He shouldn't have opened is 2nd string mouth!

Should be fun in the AL East in 2012!

If you visit the leagues finest ballpark as a Yankee fan? Dont wear pinstripes. You are made to feel your in a communist nation. When i went to the unfriendly confines of Fenway paaak. The fans treat the games as if world peace is on the line. The Yankees will forever be the Daddy to a buncha cry baby children who didnt get their way. The local pubs are even worse and treat the pinstripe as if you were dressed in a SS uniform. I was refused entry to one of those charming joints. The doorman stated my eyes were glassy. LOL.. The city of Bahston will never be as diverse, racially tolerent and sophisticated as NYC. They will remain a bunch of prejudice red faced beer swilling idiots. Hey!!! I am just calling them the name they embrace... IDIOTS

Typical> When your own team sucks you have to start rooting for other teams to lose. Rather pathetic. Luke Scott should have stayed in Baltimore. He sucks. They suck. Perfect match.

Deserves more than someone who doesn't play ball and sits behind a keyboard making fun of someone.
