The Major League Baseball Players Association knows who leaked Ryan Braun's positive drug test to ESPN, but is not considering a lawsuit, executive director Michael Weiner told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

"The union is not," Weiner said when asked if they were considering legal action. "I guess I can't speak for Ryan on that point. That will be their decision. My sense is that what's done is done. I think that's also the best thing for everybody."

The leak came from someone whom the Braun defense team talked to in preparation for its case, the newspaper reported.

Weiner said the union does not believe there is an issue with confidentiality with MLB's drug program.

"Everyone associated with the case is extemely disappointed that it leaked out," Weiner told the newspaper. "I'm certain the leak was specific to this case. It does not threaten the confidentiality of the program and as I've said to players who have asked about that, confidentiality is as important as any aspect of this program.

"The program has a bunch of different goals but confidentiality is critical. If we felt there was any system-wide problem with respect to confidentiality, we really would have a problem. And that's not the case."

Union knows who leaked news of Ryan Braun test

what a strange response from the MLBPA. aren't they supposed to defend the confidentiality of ALL MLB players in this matter?

if they take no action now, what's to prevent a reoccurrance at some later date?  has the leak been fired? i guess the big question

is why was the leak SPECIFIC to this case? did someone have it in for ryan braun?  this whole matter leaves more questions than

answers and opens pandora's box to a slew of unknowns down the road.  nice work MLBPA!

Union knows who leaked news of Ryan Braun test

Can anybody who keeps calling Braun a cheat explain how the positive results were duplicated in a simulation with new samples, as the defense did?

He wasn't using.  The test was a false positive.  About 5-15% of all diagnostic tests are false positives.  It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out, however, most people can't spell science, much less understand even the simplest ideas.

Also, if there were two more positives as reported by Dan Patrick and we haven't heard of any suspensions, then apparently they got off too.

How awesome would that be. The guy who leaked the test results gets punished, but Braun is on the field for Opening Day. Braun has been strangely silent since the test handler release his version of the events. What did Braun think the guy would let him trash his name with a bunch of misinformation. Looks like Roids do affect your thought process.
Cbssports naturally only thinks one side of the story is important for idiots like you to see.

Why does ther mhave to be a spike in his numbers. He might have been using for 5 years and then finally were able to counter his masking agent in  the latest test.

Obviously the leak was on the players side.  If it was on mlb side the union would try to use it to destroy the whole program.  He cheated and got lucky that the technician didn't do his job properly.  That's the only reason he is not suspended right now.  When he gets caught again this whole situation will just make him look so much worse.  He knew the penalties and the testing program and juiced anyway, this will not stop him from doing it again in the future.

Also, just waiting for the charges to be filed against Dino.  We all know he was out to get Braun and tampered with the results just so he could blackmail Braun into giving his son a contract to play pro baseball.  Sorry, just some of the rumors I have heard.  Seriously though, when is he going to be arrested?  According to Brauns "lawyers", he committed heinous crimes and should be punished.  Wait, I hear sirens.  There go the Pleasant Prairie police to arrest that horrible guy who was doing his job!  Finally some closure.  Next up, the REAL killer of Nicole Simpson.

So people are upset that someone revealed the truth that Braun is a cheater, which was being witheld? Am I reading this right? If Braun pursues legal action against this person or the tester I hope he gets a massive suspension from play. That'd be more arrogant than Mark McGwire's stubborn denial of using PEDs.
