The Major League Baseball Players Association knows who leaked Ryan Braun's positive drug test to ESPN, but is not considering a lawsuit, executive director Michael Weiner told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

"The union is not," Weiner said when asked if they were considering legal action. "I guess I can't speak for Ryan on that point. That will be their decision. My sense is that what's done is done. I think that's also the best thing for everybody."

The leak came from someone whom the Braun defense team talked to in preparation for its case, the newspaper reported.

Weiner said the union does not believe there is an issue with confidentiality with MLB's drug program.

"Everyone associated with the case is extemely disappointed that it leaked out," Weiner told the newspaper. "I'm certain the leak was specific to this case. It does not threaten the confidentiality of the program and as I've said to players who have asked about that, confidentiality is as important as any aspect of this program.

"The program has a bunch of different goals but confidentiality is critical. If we felt there was any system-wide problem with respect to confidentiality, we really would have a problem. And that's not the case."

I am starting to think the the reason they are not worried is because chances are the Braun camp will not leak this type of info...again.  It is just strange that something that threatens all their player's livlihoods is "leaked" and the Union 's response is "we know it wion't happen again."  Really?  The union will piss and moan if the Cubs sit a nut like Zambrano, but the future of MLB is threatened by some rogue official illegally dropping names of suspected dopers and they are not worried.  Sounds a little suspicious.  But if we can trust anyone it is a union.

He never 'blamed' anyone. He said because of the way the sample was handled, there was a chance the sample was compromised. That's it. He didn't blame anyone.

Why would they file the guy got off on something that has shown he shouldn't have.  If this is happening more than this occasion then I think a whistle blower should be telling the greater public that funny things are going on.

The MLB drug testing has been exposed as a paper tiger (a big threat with no teeth)  as someone can beat science with a "if the glove doesn't fit you must acquit" defense!  As the lab that did the testing later said that the claim that his lawyers made about being the highest ever tested was false they had tests that were 5 times higher (maybe highest for MLB purposes).  They also said synthetic testosterone couldn't be detected (positive) unless it was in the sample.  So for Braun to be not guilty of doping it would mean that the person who collected the sample spiked the sample with testosterone (how long he had it would have no effect)

So what is more likely that a profesional player with millions of dollars riding on results cheated or a guy paid crap decided to cheat at his job in this economy doing something that would definatley get him fired and cause serious problems getting any further employment that has annnnny responsibility!

We all know he's guilty as sin.  He blamed the guy who took the sample, very cowardly by the way.  His numbers were off the chart and should be banned.  When he hits .260 this year with 14 homers we will all know.

I'm sick of hearing he got off on a technicality.  This "technicality" was could have, as Braun's team proved, altered the sample even if the seal was not broken.  Stop spewing he is guilty until you read the facts.  Start here:

Who did it ??

Alright ... who leaked it?  And how do we congratulate the guy?

A few more "leaks" in the 90's could have prevented a scandal that will forever taint the records of many, both guilty and innocent.

Union knows who leaked Ryan Braun false positive

then explain how the positive results were duplicated in a simulation with new samples, as the defense did?

He wasn't using.  The test was a false positive.  About 5-15% of all diagnostic tests are false positives.  It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out, however, most people can't spell science, much less understand even the simplest ideas.

JGY, I have not read anywhere or heard on the news that the arbitrators indeed sided with Braun because of the fact that there is a rule that a lab test cannot sit for more than one day. How are you lucky enough to have this info available to you? And if indeed as you state the lab test was truly not tampered with and it tested above levels upon receipt, then that would tell me without a doubt that he tested positive and that he should be suspended; but they did not, and that tells me they have more info available to show that the extreme elevated test level was indeed a flaw. He was found inocent, so give it a rest!

I'm sure everyone who is so appalled by the info getting leaked was equally appalled when A-ROD'S GRAND JURY TESTIMONY WAS LEAKED and that's how he got busted, right?  Hello?  Anyone?

Hypocrisy of the highest order.  Medical professionals saying it's impossible to manufacture those levels of synthetic testosterone into a sample, the A sample and B sample were identical, no seals were broken.....come on, people.
