The Major League Baseball Players Association knows who leaked Ryan Braun's positive drug test to ESPN, but is not considering a lawsuit, executive director Michael Weiner told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

"The union is not," Weiner said when asked if they were considering legal action. "I guess I can't speak for Ryan on that point. That will be their decision. My sense is that what's done is done. I think that's also the best thing for everybody."

The leak came from someone whom the Braun defense team talked to in preparation for its case, the newspaper reported.

Weiner said the union does not believe there is an issue with confidentiality with MLB's drug program.

"Everyone associated with the case is extemely disappointed that it leaked out," Weiner told the newspaper. "I'm certain the leak was specific to this case. It does not threaten the confidentiality of the program and as I've said to players who have asked about that, confidentiality is as important as any aspect of this program.

"The program has a bunch of different goals but confidentiality is critical. If we felt there was any system-wide problem with respect to confidentiality, we really would have a problem. And that's not the case."

Union knows who leaked news of Ryan Braun test

I love how everyone immediately assumes he's a cheater because a failed drug test was reported. Guess what folks? Not guilty. No one needs to sue, and we don't need to talk about it. I'm ready to watch the Brewers defend their Central Division Championship from last year with what appears to be a better team, even without Prince. A returning starting five (all of whom had 10+ wins last year), an established 3rd baseman and shortstop, a new 1st baseman with a little bit of pro experience already, and a five-man outfield setup full of potential... lots of smiles on my end.

Wow, I still cannot believe the number of idiots out there that still have to spout off that Braun is a cheater! Give it a rest already. Sure I am a Brewers fan, but if this had happended to Matt Kemp I would support him on this site also. No one knows all the facts here, not me or anyone else, but a 3 party arbitration team believed his case; and no it was not just due to a technicality. How on earth could anybodies test come back 3 time higher than any previous test! Something was flawed. I hope Braun comes back with even better numbers this year just to shut everyone up. I think with Fiedler out of the way finally, the Brewers and Braun will have a great season. OK, send your backlash!

Union knows who leaked news of Ryan Braun test

Man, there are people in this world who are so f'n stupid.

Ryan Braun won't sue because Ryan Braun cheated, period.  RYan Braun got off on a technicality, that's all.  He is a liar, a cheat and deserves to be treated as such....  just like Bonds, Sosa and all the other cheats.

His reputation WAS ruined by the leak. Without the leak, nobody would have known about the positive test.

poster below is correct: Braun will not sue, because then everyone is deposed under oath and might have to testify in open court, under oath. Ryan Braun is a cheat and a liar, if he wasn't, then he should come out and explain why the test was tainted, not hide behind medical confidentiality laws, which, by the way, can be waived by you if you so choose. He won't explain because he can't, because he cheated. Let's be honest, though, most of the top players do. What irritates me is how he tries to make himself the victim, he even slanders the poor guy who did the exam, who had absolutely done nothing wrong. I used to like Braun, but no more, he's a classless punk.

Braun is a cheat

Braun is a cheat and a liar.  What motive did anyone have to taint his sample?  Where does that get anyone?  I think time will tell the truth.  We will all see Braun's nos. decline over the course of the next couple of years and his body will break down; career will be riddled with injuries.  Cheat and a liar.

No one will sue, because no one wants to be in court under oath.  That absolutely includes Ryan Braun. Anyone who believes there was a witch hunt to get Ryan Braun, and that the sample courier was capable of spiking Ryan's samples - especially without showing any signs that that the samples were tampered with in any way (confirmed by Braun's team), is a rube.  Plain and simple.  Brewers fans should just be happy their guy found a way to wriggle off the hook.

His reputation was ruined by the POSITIVE test, not the leaking of said test. If he sues, he should also be punished for cheating.
