Police confiscated a 9 mm handgun from former Colts wide receiver Marvin Harrison during a traffic stop Wednesday. Harrison was stopped three blocks from the Philadelphia garage he owns where, you may recall, in 2008, three people were injured in a shooting. Harrison’s name came up in that case, but he was never charged. Police are testing Harrison’s gun to see if it is related to the ’08 shooting.

ESPN the Magazine’s Shaun Assael described Wednesday’s incident:

"The 37-year-old former Pro Bowl receiver was driving the wrong way down the one-way street in a Cadillac Escalade when the patrolman stopped him along with the driver of a second car that was trailing him, the sources said.

According to the law enforcement sources, the patrolman saw Harrison place something that appeared to be a weapon in the seat console of his car. When the officer asked him to step out of the vehicle, Harrison produced a car registration and a permit to carry a weapon, both of which were in order. When he was asked whether he had a weapon, however, he answered no, the sources said.

At that point, the sources added, the officer said that he had probable cause to search the vehicle and found a weapon in the seat console."

Hey "Jonvi"....aka "SyrOwnsU," or whatever screen name you're going by at this second, you were not upholding anyone's constitutional rights when you stated, "The police should thank him for trying to bust a cap in Dixon.  MH wasn't looking for protection.  He had it.  Go big man."  Quote/unquote to be exact.  That train of thought has nothing to due with our constitutional rights.  That rationale is the reason our country is splintering to the point of no return.  It's a lack of disregard for another human's life, and I hope that for your sake....it's all bravado.

It depends upon the laws of the state whether he was in the wrong. In SC where I live, unless the gun is on your person, you dont have to show your permit, or inform the officer that you have one since state law says anyone can have one in the glovebox or center console. Permit holders here must show the permit anytime an officer asks for id if they carry on the person, but not if they arent. That is a big distinction...Smile

Obviously you have never researched police injustices or have turned a blind eye to it your entire life.
Why did OJ get off from killing Nicole? because of a corrupt officer of the law, why did Big Ben get off on not one but two rape charges? because of corrupt officers, why in every urban city around the US does the police get away with beating and killing blacks and Latin’s? because the lives of blacks and Latin people do no carry the same weight as the white mans life! why do blacks still have to vote to vote? why are officers not sentenced to jail time when they have been proven of wrong doing? because killing a black or Latin is a justifiable homicide when your a pig, sorry, officer of the law. Just one request! research one specific type of crime and then research the race. The outcome of your research will establish the main reason why black and latin people feel they get unjust treatment when it comes to the law.  Blacks and latins are sentenced to serve more time for the exact same crime committed by a white individual.

Now, Now, before you reply....most of the situations mention are caused by stupidity which I can realize, but that doesn’t give the officers any right to take a life or take the rights of citizens.

now, now, now...I'm not black or Latin just educated enough and I'm currently a law student at Pepperdine University where my current research has bought me to this sad conclusion. I truly would not have realized this without the help of a great professor DR Fruge’ (not black or latin hence the name) , that sometimes we have to take a step back and accept facts even when they do not favor your understanding, reasoning’s, and culture.…….good day!

Oh my! Let's get something straight here. I am not going to sit here and say that police injustices do not happen. Happens EVERY single day! I have not once said that they do not happen. I have not defended police injustices. I merely defended this officers actions in this particular case. I have personally been a victim of it, just not very severe.

Speaking of culure- I was listening to a radio program just the other day. They were talking about a Mexican father who tattoed a gang symbol on his young son. I don't know exactly the age, but somewhere between 7-9 years old. When questioned about it the man had stated that it is culture of there family to be in gangs. He stated that he saw nothing wrong with it. Related it to someone having there nose pierced in other countries(his words). Anyways...you being a law student I think you know where I am going with this.

Reference race.  I care little about anyone's origin or skin tone.  I judge a person by their actions.  My distrust for law enforcement come from actions witnessed....period.  Reference MH.  My concern is how does a policeman see something that looks like a gun...there were two cars going down the same one-way street...what did the policeman cut off one car to get behind MH's?

If you look at the article IT NEVER STATES THAT HE SAW HIM WITH A GUN THROUGH TENTED GLASS! "...the patrolman saw Harrison place something that appeared to be a weapon in the seat console of his car." Which in fact means that it is possible that the officer had him pulled over with his window in fact rolled down and in plain view!
