David Squires of The Daily Press of Hampton Roads, VA is reporting that the victim in the shooting at Michael Vick’s birthday party may have been Quanis Phillips, a co-defendant in the dog-fighting trial.

Squires’s can best be described as “word on the street”. Here’s what he wrote:

The story goes that Quanis (who showed up uninvited…Vick is not supposed to be associating with any dog-fighting co-defendants)  threatened to smash birthday cake in Vick's face, or that he actually smashed the cake in Vick's face.

Another version is that someone smashed cake in Quanis' face -- or threatened to smash it in his face.

Anyway, the confrontation moved outside -- where I'm told there were several still cameras and video cameras.

Cooler heads did NOT prevail, and 'Q' was shot in the shopping center parking lot.

It is unclear whether Vick was still around at the time of the shooting, but he was definitely not there when police arrived.

doesnt it state in the article that there wasnt any indication that Vick was involved in the shooting. If Vick wasnt around during the shooting or had any place in it, how can you involve him in the crime.

He threw a party at a night club, first that was stupid, but is it a crime, no! How can we convict someone who hasnt even been to trial. If he really was involved in it, the way it is reported, dont you think he would have been named a prime suspect. Am I saying what he did wasnt stupid, no!, but guess what it isnt a crime to be stupid, but it is a crime to shoot someone, and if he didnt shoot or harm anyone, what can you all really say.

Really most of you are mad cause he has more money than you and your families combined, and there are other reasons, but we wont get into that, I bet half of you that wrote these post are tea party supporters as well.

Reminds me of Michael Irving of the Cowboys, sorry I had the crack pipe in my pocket because a friend came to visit and when I searched him before he came into my house I found he crack pipe.  I put it in my pocket and forgot about it.....Yeah right. Not sure about you but I never searched one of my friends that has come over to my house.  Hang around with criminals you will get burned.  There are so many good players out there, why do team continually bring these guys around once they have been given a break and screw up again.  Just like Ben, if he gets in trouble again cut him loose, doesn't matter if he has signed a big contract or not, or if he is one of your best players, let them go.  It may send a message to the rest.

I agree with you completely. This piece of human thug trash has stained the flag of the NFL as well as humanity. Kick him to the curb and let him try to make a living like the rest of us. With his credentials he could be a .......... well he doesn't have any credentials except maybe a few he tricked for in the slammer. If Goodell has any sense he will amputate this cancer now.

Michael Vick is a lot things and being smart, or humble or a decent human being isn't any of them.  If anyone really believes this incident is just a coincidence or that he was at this place and wasn't hanging with his supposed ex dog fighting buddies, then your a moron.  This guy is a straight up low life lying scum bag and is laughing every night he goes to bed knowing that he never really got in trouble for the horrendous torture he put all those helpless dogs through.  Not to mention he is back in the NFL making millions and the guy isn't even a good QB.  Just watch him do an interview now and see a guy who is cocky and doesn't show any remorse for what he has done in the past.  Commissioner Godell, you better not puss out of this one.  Guarantee if there is trouble at a nightclub that Vick was at, then he or his friends were involved.  It's time to bring Michael Vick down to earth again and not only suspend him, but kick him out of the league for his constant ignorance and blatant disregard of the not following only the NFL rules, but not listening to the commissioner after all the things he has done for him.   The NFL needs to show this country that they are not going to let the ignorant players in the league constantly be the headline of the sports page and they can make a big step towards that by kicking the biggest ignorant scum bag of them all, Michael Vick.    Terrell Owens is an example of a player who may be a distraction in the locker room and on the field, but is a good citizen off the field, yet still doesn't have a job in the NFL.  Michael Vick, who has been in trouble multiple times, was suspended from the NFL and put in prison for brutally killing and torturing defenseless dog
s is making millions in the NFL.  Owens, who is hard worker and very good at his position of WR, still looking for a team to play with and Michael Vick who's career stats show he has never been a good QB is out partying with his old dog killing buddies and acting like he can do anything he wants.   Even though I wish this will be the end of Michael Vick in the NFL, I'm not to worried if it isn't, because I know ignorant low life scum like Michael Vick will eventually hang themselves sooner or later.  It's just a matter of time!
