According to ESPN New York, the Jets have placed a call about JaMarcus Russell. The Jets already have a backup quarterback on the roster – Kellen Clemens – so if Russell were brought in, it’d likely to be compete with Erik Ainge for the No. 3 job.

According to the report, Mark Brunell still remains the favorite to be signed.

Jets looking to get fatter at the QB position?

Roid ,

;    I didn`t hear anything with Bulger going to Ravens , but i could`ve missed it ? But i have to disagree with you on QB situation , if anything happened to Sanchez we have no backup ! Or at least someone who i feel can be productive , i would feel a whole lot better with a 10 yr vet like Bulger back there ! And as far as a player like Bulger taking a back seat , if he goes to Ravens i don`t think he`s starting there either ??? So let`s hope we get someone like Bulger and be strong all around , because as you know you can suffer an injury at almost anyother  position except QB !!!!

good point...the Jets could use a back-up with experience who could be a mentor for Sanchez. The problem is always finding a veteran willing to swallow his pride and take that role....maybe we should give Testaverde a call? The Jets probably would benefit more with Vinny on the sideline (and post-game buffets) than Russel

I think Jets should be going after Marc Bulger , far better than any QB available ! With his experience & talent as a backup QB , it would be GREAT insurance should something happen to Sanchez . Also he would be a great mentor for him as well , the Rams had a horrible O-LINE the last 3 yrs so don`t go by that when looking at Bulger . He would be behind one of the best O-LINES in NFL , & as long as he is healthy he would be a massive plus on this team . Why would i want another terrible backup QB like Russell , or an over the hill QB in Brunell ? Bulger is the play , IMO .

hence the reason he will be competing for the THIRD qb spot....who cares, the Jets main concern is to see how Sanchez develops. Using Russell would be like having to use your punter play qb for half a game (a la Tom Tupa several years ago)

Wow the jets are crazy. Russel can throw the ball a mile but can't hit the broad side of a barn. He doesn't seem to care either, he got paid then got lazy. Godd luck with that.
