Chad Jones could turn to baseball

Posted on: June 29, 2010 1:43 pm

Giants third-round pick Chad Jones has been receiving bright news – or as bright as news as possible, given the circumstances – from doctors about his potential recovery from the severe leg injury he suffered in a car accident last week. According to Greg Logan of Newsday, Jones’s agent, Rocky Arcenaux, told the Gannett Louisiana News Service that his client is encouraged about possibly playing in 2011.

Jones, however, may have to play a different sport. If football proves too taxing, the LSU star could pursue a baseball career. Jones, an outfielder and relief pitcher in college, was drafted in the 50th round by the Milwaukee Brewers.

Jones’s father said doctors avoided having to amputate his son’s left foot because they restored blood flow to the foot and ankle area. Jones underwent surgery for a broken left tibia and fibula. According to the Giants, Jones is being transferred to a New York hospital today.

Chad Jones could turn to baseball

I'm an LSU fan & a NY fan - and was happy to have him drafted by NY Giants, but would just be happy to see him play any sport - regardless of what it is or where it is.  Still amazes me the comments on these boards.  Chad Jones is a special kid and special athlete.  I hope he gets to eventually show it in some pro sports - 2011 or whenever.  Just sorry it won't be in my home state of NJ in 2010.

If he can't physically play football, then playing in NY wouldn't really be an option would it. It's not like they said, "Hey Chad, you almost twisted your foot right off, but after we install those ne synthetic tendons we're also going to allow you to play whatever sport you want, wherever you want. I know you got drafted in football by the Giants, but since it might actually be better for you to play baseball now, we're going to give your rights to the Yankees. It's ONLY fair!"

This dude is lucky to have a foot. He should be very grateful if he can play hopscotch in Jackson, Mississippi.

New York is a great city and I hope some dumb people on message boards don't change your mind to think otherwise. There are 9 million people so there are bound to be a bunch of a holes. I love New York, think its the best city (i live there) but doesnt mean I dont love other cities as they all have something special to offer. Thats why america is the best country because of these differences.

U dummy he was a 50th round pick because the Giants drafted him in the 3rd round to play football. He was drafted out of highschool in someting like the 12th round by the Astros.

I couldnt agree more. Fans from Philly,Boston and New York act like idiots all the time on here. They talk shit because they know no facts about anything and are plain just stupid.

Problem with Milwaukee?  It is comments like that that make people like me loathe NY and all its sports teams.  It is that "we are better than you" attitude.  You seem to have a sense of entitlement because you're New York.

By the way, how them Knicks doing?
