Another turn in the Vick case

Posted on: June 29, 2010 10:09 pm
The news continues to be not-so-good for Eagles QB Michael Vick. Remember how Vick apparently had left the restaurant where his birthday party was held long before one of his former dog-fighting associates was shot last week?

Well, it might not have happened exactly like that.

According to the Hampton Roads Daily Press , Vick’s entourage left the Guadalajara restaurant at 2:07 a.m., three minutes before gunshots rang out. This, according to the surveillance video the restaurant turned over to police Tuesday.

Vick attorney, Larry Woodward, did not sound pleased with the apparent confliction of the video and what he had claimed earlier.

"I stand by what I said, that Michael was long gone before the shooting, does not know who did the shooting and had nothing to do with the shooting," Woodward told the newspaper. "Anyone who says any different better be very careful."

Another turn in the Vick case

In the words of the social philosopher Ron Davis, "You can't fix stupid."

Seriously though, how can Michael Vick honestly think that trying to spin a story with the police and through the media that he was nowhere near the place was going to work?

First off, he's been burned before by witnesses when he tried to sell the "I wasn't there" story before.  Just ask the FBI.

Second, everybody's got video cameras now and unless you can control who holds the footage, you've got no guarantees that something won't leak out that busts up your alibi/story.

Finally, according to his bankruptcy claims, Vick needs to protect every dollar he has at his disposal and must be either insane or plain stupid to jeopardize his contract with the Eagles and his life in the NFL.  I'm amazed that his closest family and hangers-on didn't knock him senseless when they heard about this public birthday party back in his old stomping grounds on the eastern shores of Virginia.  Their financial survival depends on him as well and should have him chained up at home to prevent the even the most remote possibility of him getting into trouble at a bar after midnight from happening.

It sure seems that you can change a lot of things about your life when you give it your best effort, but "you can't fix stupid."

Another turn in the Vick case

The fact is, where there's smoke, there's fire. Whether he was directly involved in the shooting or not, he was in violation of the agreement he had with the NFL -- he was prohibited from associating with convicted felons. Obviously he didn't learn anything last year.
He needs to go away and he won't be missed by the Eagles; he was a zero factor last year.

Another turn in the Vick case

So which is it?  The headline say the video shows Vick, the blog says it is his "entourage".  Big difference.

Once a criminal, always a criminal. He said he wasn't there, videotape proves he was. This loser needs to be bounced out of the league.

Another turn in the Vick case

Why are many of you saying "it doesnt matter when he left the club..." "he wasn't there during the shooting..."  "he wasnt involved in the shooting..."????????????

How the h*ll do any of you know he wasn't involved, HE ALREADY LIED ONCE!!!  The initial reports said he left hours before the shooting and therefore he couldn't have been involved.  Those initial reports have now apparently been contradicted by some video evidence, so what makes you think anything else that was reported by Vick or any of his "entourage" has been true even the least bit.  THe initial reports also said he was seen arguing with the guy that was shot earlier in the evening.  Now he leaves right before the shots are fired, for all we know he could easily have been VERY involved in this whole mess.

Yes, given the chance he's been given he ought to be living as a Mormon Boy Scout.

Just by association and admittedly being where he shouldn't ever be at a time he shouldn't be out -- BAN HIM!  Done.
