T. Owens (US Presswire)
A Terrell Owens update for you. T.O. was a guest on 104.5 The Zone today. He spoke about his unending free agency and pointed a finger at ESPN.  "A lot of people have listened to a lot of the commentaries throughout a lot of the media outlets, mainly ESPN, that has my character in question as far as things that have happened in the past," Owens said.  "And I think even though I may do 99 good things right and if I do one thing wrong, ESPN and the people on there is gonna make it out to be the worst thing ever."

Owens claims to be in the best shape in his life. He hasn’t made any visits to teams, though he has drawn some tepid interest. At this point, he’s waiting for someone to get injured in training camp.

places he could land and have a great season

places he could go (price is looking to be less of a factor since he is having a hard time finding work), and these teams are in no particular order....

Green Bay
new england (i hope not!)
new york jets

These would all be teams that he could be a no 2 and maybe a couple of teams no 1 reciever and have a shot at winning some games this year....come on nfl teams somebody pick this guy up! one of the best recievers of all time, im sure he could be put to use....they would never ever do it (because they have recievers) but i would love it if indy picked him up for a deep threat....and it would be funny to see if he even blinked at peyton if he thought he was open and should have passed the ball to him lol

Terrell Owens talks about his status

let me start by saying im pro T.O, he still has the ability to catch 70 balls for 1000 and 8 tds... BUT going to chicago would spell disaster...
the martz offence relies on speed and perfect route running, which are two of T.Os weaker attributes at this point. Also, could you pick 3 bigger egos at their respective positions than Cutler Martz and T.O???? On a team that doesnt seem ticketed to the playoffs that is a time bomb

Terrell Owens talks about his status

Its a shocker that Terrell Owens is still a free agent. As far as I saw last season with the Bills he hasn't lost a step. He's still one of the most talented wide receivers in the NFL. He was a character issue in the past, but he seems to have toned those issues down. Whoever signs him will be getting one hell of a steal. Teams would be wise to sign him now though so he can learn the playbook. There are a lot of teams who could use a receiver like Owens anyways.
My most logical two teams would be the Chargers or the Bears. With Vincent Jackson suspended they could use an elite replacement at least temporarily. The Chargers don't have much great depth at receiver anyways, and with their reliance on Phillip Rivers, and the replacement of LaDainian Tomlinson, they could use the talent infusion of Owens.
The Bears have arguably the most talented offensive coordinator in the NFL in Mike Martz. Martz was the ringleader of the "greatest show on turf". The Bears are traditionally a running team but the team has made it obvious that they are going away from that and are going to pass. Their moving Devin Hester to receiver was the first indication. They then went out and made big moves for Jay Cutler. Now they have one of the greatest passing gurus in the league running the offense. The Bears could use Owens because they don't have any big power receivers. Owens still has the speed to handle anything Martz can throw at him as well. Another issue for the Bears is they have no veterans at wide receiver. Owens may not be a character guy but he knows what he's doing and can teach. You can only learn so much from a coach, other times you need another player to help as evidenced by Devin Hester working out with future hall of famer and former Martz pupil, Issac Bruce.
These are just the two teams I could see benefiting most from signing Owens. There are of course many other teams. Owens is up there in years which is always a fear for teams signing free agents, but Owens still seems physically and talent-wise still in his prime. Any team who signs him will be getting an upgrade, but for best results due to playbooks, they better hurry and sign him quick. Only Randy Moss is a more sure-fire elite veteran than Owens, and from what I hear he's not leaving the Patriots any time soon.

Someone needs to sign this man!  He's still good enough to make plays and he's always a danger in the redzone.
