Fisher upset with Kiffin

Posted on: July 24, 2010 3:49 pm

Looks like we’ve found another person who’s pissed at Southern California coach Lane Kiffin. This time, it’s Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher.

The Tennessean reported today that Titans running backs coach Kennedy Pola is leaving Tennessee to become the Trojans offensive coordinator.

Pola – hired by Tennessee in January – informed Fisher he was leaving, but that’s not what really upset Fisher. What upset Fisher was that he didn’t get a heads-up call from Kiffin.

“I am very disappointed in Lane Kiffin’s approach to this,’’ Fisher said on Saturday. “Typically speaking when coaches are interested in hiring or discussing potential employment from coaches on respective staffs, there is a courtesy call made from the head coach or athletic director indicating there is an interest in talking to the assistant.

“So I am very disappointed in the lack of professionalism on behalf of Lane, to call me and leave me a voice mail after Kennedy had informed me he had taken the job. It is just a lack of professionalism.”

--Josh Katzowitz

Fisher expects professionalism out of Kiffin? No, Lane is just being Lane. He left Tennessee (the college AND state) pretty quickly the last time to take the USC position. Now he just went back and plucked someone for his staff. Professionalism? I hope Jeff Fisher isn't holding his breath, waiting for some word from Lane.

So I am very disappointed in the lack of professionalism on behalf of Lane, to call me and leave me a voice mail after Kennedy had informed me he had taken the job. It is just a lack of professionalism. Here's a heads up for you Jeff, get in line. There is nothing about Lane Kiffin that implies professionalism. His only apparant real skill appears to be pursuasive speaking. Kiffin, like a snake oil salesman, apparantly has the ability to say the right things to get organizations and their fans all pumped up and excited about what he can do for them. Then he bails - he failed to deliver in Oakland and in Tennessee,  but you see it is never his fault and now he is back at USC - that hallowed institution of college football. We'll see how well he performs following in the footsteps of the great Pete Carroll.

A word of warning to the Trojan's, you might want to temper your expectations because as Kiffin can tell you unrealistic expectations are premeditated resententments.
