Eagles budding second-year wideout Jeremy Maclin was carted off the field with a hyperextended left knee today. Jeff McClane of the Philadelphia Inquirer provided play-by-play Tweets. According to receiver Hank Baskett, Maclin’s injury “killed the mood”, prompting coaches to end practice early. Maclin needed help walking from the cart into the locker room. No word yet on the severity of the injury. If Maclin, for whatever reason, is unavailable, the Eagles would likely turn to possession receiver Jason Avant.

UPDATE: Maclin was able to walk out of the locker room under his own power. He had a sleeve over his knee and said his foot got caught in the ground.

UPDATE II: Derrick Gunn of CSNPhilly.com reports that Maclin's MRI revealed only a bone bruise. There was no ligament or structural damage. No timetable yet for his return.

Good God Andy!!!  How many guys have to get hurt before the first preseason game!!  How about no contact drills for 7 days!!!  At this rate, the practice squad will be starting for the Eagles and they will have to bring Vince Papale out of retirement!!!!
