Vikings offer Favre even more money

We’ll go ahead and get this Brett Favre update out of the way, as well. Which I’m sure will be just fine with you.

According to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune , the Vikings have put together a compensation package that would give Favre $20 million to play this season – a significant raise from the $13 million he already was scheduled to make. Apparently, $16 million would be guaranteed and the other $4 million would come in the form of incentives.

Though Minnesota coach Brad Childress pled ignorance during his Tuesday news conference, Judd Zulgad writes “Vikings tight end Visanthe Shiancoe admitted Favre had ‘told a couple of guys on the team that he was going to retire,’ but the Biloxi (Miss.) Sun Herald reported an unnamed person close to Favre's family said he hadn't made a decision whether to play a second season with the Vikings.”

I know this is easy to say from the outside, but at some point, shouldn’t the Vikings say, “Screw it. Enough is enough. Thirteen million dollars is plenty. If you’re going to continue to jerk us around, forget it. We’ll go with Tarvaris Jackson. You stay retired, Brett.”

OK, that won’t happen, but would anybody blame Minnesota if it took that tact?

Vikings offer Favre even more money

What would make anyone think that Brett Favre is going to be swayed by money?  I'm not saying that a bump of 50% in salary isn't enticing, but what has Favre done or said in the last few years to make anyone think this is the golden ticket to get him back on board
Seriously man??  The ONLY reason Brett Favre came back was MONEY dude.... give me a break !!!!   Do you honestly believe that when he signed with the Jets in the AFC he thought he had a chance at a superbowl that year?  Sure, the Jets were better last year but even then needed 2 teams to literally forfeit games against them the last 2 games of the season to make the playoffs.   Brett Favre knew 100 percent that he had ZERO chance of winning the superbowl that year in New York..... he came back for MONEY....

I would LOVE to see Favre change his mind now only after they offer him a pay raise.  That would PROVE beyond any reasonable doubt at all that money is all that matters.

I know I Know... some of you Favre lovers can't wrap it around your head that Favre isn't the man you thought he was... but I can...

Football has been responsible for just under 300 million dollars in revenue for him between salary and other stuff.  He's won a superbowl, he's won an MVP... he's broken every record he's gonna break.  He has nothing else to play for....   except of course...

MONEY !!!

Vikings offer Favre even more money

Seriously hasn't this been done enough?  Anyone who believes he's retiring and his ankle and all that BS is a fool.  I'd be willing to be any amount of money that Favre and his massive ego will be in uniform by Week 4 .  Face it the Vikes with Tarvaris Jackson have no shot.

Vikings offer Favre even more money

The Vikings are fools for offering more money. Maybe his ankle isn't 100% but the point is that Favre doesn't want to attend most of training camp. He can't come out and say that so he has to pretend he isn't healthy. Then after most of training camp is over he will have a miraculous recovery and come back. So my point is why give him an extra 7 million?
